Bottom line: SheetXAI is an AI assistant that sits in a side panel of Google Sheets. You type a request in plain English, such as “remove duplicates” or “research these companies”, and it does the work in your sheet. On AppSumo it sells four tiers, $49, $149, $199 and $299 once, for 1, 3, 5 or 25 people. The detail most people miss: the licence buys the app, not the AI. Every plan card says “BYOK required”, so each task runs on your own API key or on one-time credit packs ($59 for 5,000). Excel is a separate $29 add-on, and both add-ons are marked “Non-refundable”. The plans themselves are “Refundable up to 60 days” and “Covered by our We Got Your Back guarantee.”
Best for: freelancers, marketers and small teams who live in Google Sheets and are comfortable paying an AI provider by usage.
Think twice if: you only use Excel, you don’t want to manage an API key, or you need Tier 1 for bulk row-by-row work.
We have no affiliate deal with SheetXAI or AppSumo; links go to the official pages. How we review.
Updated 29 October 2026. This SheetXAI review rests on what we read that day: the SheetXAI listing on AppSumo, including all four plans, the add-ons, the deal terms, questions and reviews, plus SheetXAI’s own pricing page and its help articles on choosing an AppSumo plan and the AppSumo FAQ. We haven’t run it on our own sheets, so we describe the plans, the limits and what buyers report, not how accurate the AI is.

What SheetXAI does
SheetXAI installs as a Google Sheets add-on or a Chrome extension, and as an Excel add-in from Microsoft AppSource if you buy the Excel add-on. You open the panel, describe what you want, and the agent edits the sheet. The listing groups the features in four blocks:
- Spreadsheet operations: cleaning data, splitting columns, removing blanks, fixing formatting, building reports and charts, finding and merging duplicate contacts.
- Documents to data: upload PDFs, photos, handwritten forms, invoices or receipts and extract the fields into rows and columns.
- Content at scale: write copy, research summaries and “custom images, videos, and audio for every row of data.”
- Integrations: “Connect 500+ apps,” naming HubSpot, Google Analytics, Apollo, Hunter, Lusha, Instantly and Lemlist.
That integration number needs a note. The listing says 500+, the founder’s message says “25+ business tools”, and the FAQ on the listing says “over 20 other platforms.” SheetXAI’s help centre has an article titled “Connect 500+ Apps Inline in SheetXAI (Beta)”, so in practice the 500+ figure is a beta connection layer, and the hand-built integrations number in the twenties. Both can be true; just don’t buy on the bigger number alone.
There are two ways to work. The chatbot handles whole-sheet jobs such as sorting, pivot tables and charts. “SAI commands” are cell-by-cell AI operations you type into cells with `#SAI`, and they do the row-by-row work: one description per product, one research summary per company. That split matters for picking a tier.
The thing most people miss: the AI isn’t included
Every plan card on AppSumo carries a tick next to “BYOK required.” BYOK means bring your own key. The founder spelled it out on the listing on 24 September 2026: “The license gives you access to SheetXAI for life, but the AI itself needs either your own API key or credits.”
So there are two running costs to think about. You can connect a key from a provider such as OpenRouter, OpenAI, Claude, Gemini or Fal AI, and that provider bills you for usage. Or you can buy SheetXAI’s credit pack, listed on AppSumo as “One time credits (5,000)” at “$59/5000 unit”, up to 50,000, marked “Non-refundable.” The founder’s answer adds: “These are not monthly credits and do not renew.”
Turns out the credit maths is simple once you see the pricing page’s rules of thumb. A light chatbot operation costs about 10 credits, a heavy one about 50, and a content row about 2. One operation counts once “even if it touches a million rows.” When you pick a stronger model, the cost rises: the AppSumo FAQ puts Claude Sonnet at about 14 credits per operation, against about 2 for its Auto Basic setting. SheetXAI’s AppSumo FAQ says 5,000 credits “typically lasts around 4 months” for normal use, or about a month for heavy image and video work.
Don’t forget that a ChatGPT Plus subscription won’t help here. The FAQ says plainly that SheetXAI needs an API key from a separate, usage-based account, not a ChatGPT login.
The plans
AppSumo’s four tiers, read on 29 October 2026. The listing shows struck-through prices of $180, $540, $900 and $4,500 next to them; those are the listing’s figures, not a saving we’d count on.
| AppSumo tier | Price, once | Licences | Automations and mini apps | Bulk and SAI features |

| License Tier 3 | $199 | 5 | Unlimited | Included |
| License Tier 4 | $299 | 25 | Unlimited | Included |
| Plan | Price |

| License Tier 1 One person, chatbot tasks |

| License Tier 3 Teams of 5 |
$199 once |
| License Tier 4 Larger teams |
$299 once |
One-time prices on AppSumo, read 29 October 2026; AI usage is extra (your own API key, or non-refundable credit packs at $59 per 5,000), and Excel is a non-refundable +$29 add-on. SheetXAI's own site lists Starter $20 a month (500 credits), Professional $79 a month (5,000 credits, up to 3 users), Business $149 a month (20,000 credits, up to 5 users), and BYOK as a $15-a-month extra.
Prices checked Oct 29, 2026 on SheetXAI’s own pricing page. Lifetime deals are listings that can end or change, so check the live listing before you buy.
Tier 1’s card shows a cross next to nine lines: bulk content, audio, video and image generation in cells, bulk scraping, bulk image analysis, bulk image upscaling, “Convert documents to sheets”, and “100+ LLMs for media creation.” All four tiers tick “Access to GSheets AI agent”, natural language commands, analytics, AI web search and integrations.
SheetXAI’s plan guide describes Tier 1 as the “core spreadsheet agent”, with “10 daily and weekly automations combined” and no hourly ones. Turns out Tiers 2 to 4 are the same product; the guide says “The primary difference between these tiers is the number of team seats.”
Picking a plan: four worked examples
A solo analyst tidying client exports. Honestly, Tier 1 at $49 fits if you mostly ask the chatbot to clean, sort and chart. Add a $59 credit pack if you don’t want an API key, and the total is $108. At about 10 credits per light operation, 5,000 credits is roughly 500 chatbot requests.
A shop owner writing 500 product descriptions. That’s row-by-row work, so it needs SAI commands and Tier 2. One reviewer on SheetXAI’s site rewrote 500 descriptions; at about 2 credits a row, one run is around 1,000 credits, so a $59 pack covers about five runs of that size. Tier 2 plus one pack is $208.
A three-person agency on Excel and Sheets. Tier 2 ($149) plus the Excel add-on ($29) is $178. The FAQ says one Excel add-on covers every seat, so the $29 is paid once, not per person.
A 20-person team. Tier 4 is $299 for 25 seats, about $12 a seat. Tier 3 works out at $39.80 a seat and Tier 2 at about $49.67. If you’ve got more than five people, the per-seat sums favour Tier 4 heavily.
When you’re unsure between Tier 1 and Tier 2, ask one question: will you ever want one AI result per row? If yes, skip the Tier 1 code.
The deal vs SheetXAI’s own plans
SheetXAI’s own pricing page sells subscriptions, read on 29 October 2026:
| SheetXAI’s own plan | Price | Credits | Users |
|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $20 a month | 500 a month | 1 |
| Professional | $79 a month | 5,000 a month | Up to 3 |
| Business | $149 a month | 20,000 a month | Up to 5 |
| BYOK extra | $15 a month | None | Add-on to a plan |
The shapes line up: Professional’s 3 users match Tier 2’s 3 seats, and Business’s 5 users match Tier 3’s 5. The difference is what you pay for. A subscription includes a monthly credit allowance, and on SheetXAI’s own site BYOK is a $15-a-month extra. On AppSumo you pay once for the app, BYOK is built in, and credits are one-time packs. When you compare, add your expected AI bill to the AppSumo price. For a light user, a one-time tier plus their own key will cost far less than $79 a month. For a heavy user generating images and video daily, the API bill is the bigger number either way, and we can’t estimate it for you.
Excel: a separate add-on with fewer features
By default, the AppSumo deal is the Google Sheets version. The FAQ calls Sheets the version “with the most features.” Excel needs the “Access to Excel AI Agent” add-on, +$29 and “Non-refundable.”
Even with the add-on, Excel does less. SheetXAI’s FAQ says Excel “does not include image/video generation or those integrations,” and works “Across multiple sheets in the same workbook only,” where Sheets can reach across files. It runs in Excel Online, desktop Excel on Windows and Mac, and Office 365. If you’ve got most of your work in Excel, test it before paying for the add-on; more on the catch with that below.
What buyers report
The listing shows 4.93 stars from 76 reviews: 73 five-taco, one four-taco and two three-taco. That’s high, and the founder replies to almost everything.
Deep founder support. A review dated 16 September 2026 describes a two-hour call in which the founder walked through a commercial real estate underwriting model. The reviewer valued that SheetXAI “Flagged missing information instead of inventing numbers,” and noted “There is a learning curve, and structured prompts produce better results than vague instructions.”
Low API costs for one user. A 12 October 2026 reviewer on Tier 2 uses their own key and says “you can do A LOT with 10€ (or 10$).” They suggest Tier 3 or above for teams of more than three.
PDF extraction in Excel. A 13 October 2026 reviewer installed the Excel add-in and parsed a set of PDFs into a table of employees and fields, adding “we just need to provide clear instructions.”
Agency use. An August 2026 review lists a time tracker, social media management, lead generation with enrichment and SEO, all built in Sheets.
Answers from the questions tab. On 10 October 2026 the founder said agents and API calls “dont cost additional seats, only distinct human email users, do.” On 17 September he confirmed Spanish prompts work and that one licence allows “only one active session” at a time. On 18 September he said teammates can use mini apps in a shared spreadsheet “Despite not having SheetXAI.” The panel says the team is “Expected to respond within 24 hours.”
The founder card lists David De Souza, 2025, “CA (USA)”, 1-10 people, bootstrapped; the questions panel lists “Delaware, USA.” His message says the product launched in February 2025 and has “2,000+ users”, while SheetXAI’s own site says “Loved by 4,000+ users.” We note both without picking one.
The terms
The deal terms read:
- “Get lifetime access to SheetXAI Add On.”
- “All future Custom (Tiers 1-4) plan updates.”
- “If the plan name linked to your deal changes, it will automatically transfer to the new plan with all updates.”
- “This deal is only for brand-new SheetXAI Add On users”, with “no previous accounts, trials, or paid plans with this partner.”
- “Activate your license within 60 days”, and “you can upgrade while the deal is live but can only downgrade within 60 days of purchase.”
- “Access to all future AI models may be provided at a discounted rate OR Access to future AI models may require an add on.”
Two lines deserve attention, and most people skip them. “Custom (Tiers 1-4)” means the deal maps to AppSumo-only plans, not to Starter, Professional or Business, so you can’t hold it against SheetXAI’s subscription feature list later. Don’t forget the last line either: it leaves room for new AI models to cost extra. Since you pay the AI provider anyway on BYOK, that mostly matters if you rely on SheetXAI’s credits.
The guarantee line reads “Covered by our We Got Your Back guarantee,” and the listing is marked AppSumo Select. The plans are “Refundable up to 60 days.” The Excel add-on and credit packs say “Non-refundable.”
SheetXAI vs Gemini in Sheets and Microsoft Copilot
The listing and FAQ compare SheetXAI with the AI built into Google Sheets and Excel. The founder’s claims are that SheetXAI works across multiple sheets and files, connects to outside tools, generates images, video and audio in cells, and works in both Sheets and Excel. Those are the vendor’s claims; we didn’t test Gemini or Copilot, and we didn’t price them for this review. If you’ve already paid for one of them through Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, try your three most common spreadsheet jobs there first. SheetXAI earns its place when you need row-by-row research, media generation or the integrations, not when you just want a formula written.
Common mistakes with the SheetXAI deal
Treating the price as the whole cost. Don’t forget the AI runs on your key or on $59 credit packs. Budget for it.
Buying Tier 1 for bulk work. Row-by-row generation, scraping and document-to-sheet conversion are crossed out on Tier 1.
Starting a vendor trial before buying. The FAQ suggests trying Excel through SheetXAI’s free trial, but the deal is “only for brand-new SheetXAI Add On users” with “no previous accounts, trials”. If you’ve already tried it with your email, ask support before buying, or buy with a different email.
Buying the Excel add-on without testing. Don’t skip a test run first: the add-on is non-refundable, and Excel lacks the integrations and media generation.
Expecting it to run with the sheet closed. SheetXAI’s AppSumo FAQ says “Currently, yes” to whether the sheet must be open. That page also describes a Chrome extension and API as planned, while the newer setup guide lists a Chrome extension as an install option. Check how scheduled automations behave before relying on them.
Feeding it very wide sheets. In practice, the FAQ says staying “under about 20” columns is best, and errors get more likely at 50 to 100 or more.
Who SheetXAI suits
A Google Sheets power user without formula skills. Tier 1 plus your own key is the cheapest way in.
A marketer or SEO team doing row-by-row work. Tier 2 or 3, with the integrations for enrichment, verification and outreach.
A larger team. Tier 4 spreads 25 seats over $299.
An Excel-only office that wants everything. Skip the add-on until you’ve tested it; Excel costs extra and does less.
How to test it inside the refund window
- Set up your API key first with a spending limit at the provider, so a runaway job can’t surprise you.
- Run your three most common jobs on a copy of a real sheet, with clear, structured prompts.
- Try one SAI command on 10 rows first. When you scale up to a column of 1,000, you’ll know the credits or API cost.
- Test a scheduled automation and check whether it runs with the sheet closed.
- Assign a second seat if your tier has one, and confirm the shared key works for that person.
What we couldn’t check
We didn’t install SheetXAI, run prompts or measure accuracy. We couldn’t confirm whether automations now run with the sheet closed, how the “Custom” AppSumo plans will track SheetXAI’s subscription plans over time, or what future AI models will cost. The two pages disagree on integrations (500+ vs 20-25+) and user count (2,000+ vs 4,000+). Settle the trial-eligibility question with support before you buy.
FAQ: SheetXAI questions
Is SheetXAI a one-time payment on AppSumo?
The licence is: $49, $149, $199 or $299 once. AI usage isn’t included; you pay your API provider or buy one-time credit packs at $59 per 5,000.
Does the SheetXAI AppSumo deal include Excel?
No. The deal includes the Google Sheets version. Excel is a $29 add-on, marked non-refundable, and one purchase covers all your seats.
What’s the difference between SheetXAI Tier 1 and Tier 2?
Tier 1 is the chatbot for one person, with 10 daily automations and 10 mini apps a month. Tier 2 adds SAI commands for bulk content, media, scraping and document conversion, unlimited automations, and three seats.
Is the SheetXAI deal refundable?
The plans are refundable up to 60 days and covered by AppSumo’s We Got Your Back guarantee. The Excel add-on and credit packs are non-refundable.
The verdict
SheetXAI is a well-reviewed AI agent for Google Sheets, with a founder who answers almost every question and a feature list that goes well beyond writing formulas. The deal is clean on refunds and terms. What keeps the score down is that “lifetime” covers the app, not the AI: you’ll pay a provider or buy credits for as long as you use it, Excel costs extra, and Tier 1 leaves out the bulk features many buyers want. Honestly, for a Sheets user who’s comfortable with an API key, Tier 2 is the sensible starting point.
