Bottom line: Support Board is a customer-messaging platform: live chat on your site, an AI chatbot trained on your own content, tickets, and one inbox for channels like WhatsApp, Messenger, Instagram, Telegram, email and SMS. On AppSumo it sells four plans, $69 to $276 once, each capping messages per month and chatbot training characters. One line on every plan card matters most for the budget: “OpenAI and third-party service fees not included.” So the deal buys the platform for life, while the AI answers run on your own OpenAI account, and channels like WhatsApp or SMS may charge their own fees. The founder’s company, Schiocco, has sold Support Board since 2017. The listing is “Not covered by We Got Your Back.”
Best for: small businesses and online shops that want live chat, a chatbot and WhatsApp in one inbox without a per-seat subscription.
Think twice if: you want a fully managed AI bill with no separate API account, or you need more than one brand on one licence.
We have no affiliate deal with Support Board or AppSumo; links go to the official pages. How we review.
Updated 29 October 2026. This Support Board review rests on what we read that day: the Support Board listing on AppSumo, including all four plan cards, the deal terms, the FAQ and buyer reviews, and Support Board’s own pricing page. We haven’t run a support desk on it, so we describe the plans, the costs around them and what buyers report, not chatbot accuracy.

What Support Board does
Support Board puts several tools in one dashboard:
- Live chat on your website, with pop-up, welcome and follow-up messages, and triggers by user type, location and time.
- An AI chatbot trained on your own documents (PDF, CSV, text files and web pages), with daily retraining from your website, custom Q&As, chatbot journeys and human handover.
- Channels: Messenger, WhatsApp, Telegram, LINE, Viber, Instagram, Slack, WeChat, SMS and email, with the chatbot working across them.
- Tickets and a multilingual knowledge base.
- Reports: more than 13 pre-built reports and customer ratings after chats, exportable to CSV.
- Integrations: Instagram, OpenAI, Shopify, TidyCal and WhatsApp are named, plus Zapier, an API and webhooks for custom channels.
The listing’s FAQ adds WhatsApp voice calls with recordings and transcripts, WhatsApp Flows and catalogues, bulk WhatsApp messages, translations in 41 languages through Google Translate, and a progressive web app for Android and iOS.
The four plans
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Plan 1 Small shops |
$69 once |
| Plan 2 Growing teams |
$138 once |
| Plan 3 Busy support |
$207 once |
| Plan 4 High volume |
$276 once |
One-time prices on AppSumo for the cloud version; OpenAI and third-party fees are not included. Support Board's own site sells PHP and WordPress versions at $49 once with apps sold separately, and a Cloud version from $5 a month.
Prices checked Oct 29, 2026 on Support Board’s own pricing page. Lifetime deals are listings that can end or change, so check the live listing before you buy.
Every plan includes white labelling, “All supported apps,” and premium support. What changes is volume:
| Plan | Price | Messages a month | Training characters | Agents |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Plan 1 | $69 | 10,000 | 1,500,000 | 3 |
| Plan 2 | $138 | 25,000 | 2,500,000 | 6 |
| Plan 3 | $207 | 70,000 | 3,500,000 | 10 |
| Plan 4 | $276 | 200,000 | 15,000,000 | Unlimited |
Sizing a plan from your own chat volume
Turns out the message cap is easier to judge than it looks, as long as you plan in messages, not conversations, and assume replies from your chatbot and agents count too; the listing doesn’t spell out how messages are counted, so confirm with support.
A small shop. Say 300 conversations a month, averaging eight messages each counting both sides. That’s 2,400 messages, well inside Plan 1’s 10,000, with room for a busy sale week.
A service business on WhatsApp. Say 1,200 conversations a month at ten messages each: 12,000 messages. Plan 1 falls short; Plan 2’s 25,000 fits, and its six agents cover a small team.
A busy online store with a chatbot answering first. Say 4,000 conversations at twelve messages each, or 48,000 a month. That’s Plan 3, and the OpenAI bill for those chatbot replies is yours on top.
If you’ve got last month’s figures from your current chat tool, honestly, use them instead of our guesses. Don’t forget seasonal peaks either; a cap that fits an average month may not fit December.
The deal terms don’t mention stacking or codes; the plans are priced at one to four times $69. Training characters are the size of the content your chatbot learns from. A 1.5 million character limit is a lot of help articles; a big product catalogue or documentation site may need Plan 4.
The costs that sit outside the deal
Here’s what most people miss. “OpenAI and third-party service fees not included” sits on every plan card. In practice, that means:
- AI replies are billed by OpenAI to your own API account, per use. A July 2026 reviewer noted the AI support covers ChatGPT and Gemini, “not (yet)” Claude.
- WhatsApp, SMS and other channels run through providers that may charge for messages. Support Board connects to them; it doesn’t pay their fees.
None of this is unusual for a chatbot platform. It does mean $69 isn’t the whole cost of an AI help desk. When you budget, add an estimate of your monthly API usage and any channel fees.
Cloud vs self-hosted
Support Board’s own pricing page sells three versions:
- PHP and WordPress versions, each $49 once, installed on your own server, with source code access, “100% data ownership” and unlimited usage. But “Apps are not included and must be purchased separately”: for example, Artificial Intelligence $29, WhatsApp $29, Tickets $19, or a messaging bundle at $79.
- A Cloud version, “From $5 a month,” with “Apps are included for free.”
The AppSumo deal upgrades a cloud account: the founder’s note on the listing invites you to “create a free account” and then upgrade it “to the AppSumo Tier that you have selected.” So you’re buying the cloud version with the apps included, capped by monthly messages.
One caution on data. The listing’s FAQ says “All conversations, user details, and other data are stored on your server.” That describes the self-hosted versions. On the cloud deal, your data sits on Support Board’s servers, so read their privacy policy if that matters to you.
What buyers report
The listing shows 4.50 stars from 103 reviews.
Setup is easier than feared, mostly. One buyer, a year in, expected a multi-day setup and found it “easier than anticipated.” Another took “roughly a full day” to configure everything and found the menus hard to navigate at first, noting that several YouTube tutorials “appear to be a few years old.”
Support responds. Reviewers mention replies “within 24 hours,” and a year-long user took that as a sign the company “is here to stay.”
WhatsApp works. An August 2026 review said the WhatsApp integration “was set up fast and works perfectly.”
An agency licence is wanted. A March 2026 reviewer who manages several sites asked for an agency option, because “purchasing separate one off licenses for each site is not ideal.” The founder agreed and said they were working on it.
The terms
The deal terms read:
- “Lifetime access to Support Board.”
- “You must redeem your code(s) within 60 days of purchase.”
- “All future plan updates.”
“All future plan updates” is broader than most deals we’ve read, which usually tie updates to one named plan. The guarantee line reads “Not covered by We Got Your Back. Listed by the partner, not reviewed by AppSumo.” The 60-day refund still applies.
Support Board vs Intercom and Help Scout
The listing names Drift, Help Scout and Intercom. Those are established subscription help desks, usually priced per seat, with their own AI built in. Support Board’s case is the one-time price, the long channel list and white labelling on every plan. Its trade-offs are a separate AI bill, a smaller company, and a setup that takes some patience. We didn’t price the alternatives for this review, so we won’t claim it’s cheaper over any fixed period; compare against the plan you’d actually buy.
Common mistakes with the Support Board deal
Forgetting the OpenAI account. The chatbot needs your own API key and billing. Don’t launch it without a spending limit set on that account.
Counting on Claude. A reviewer found ChatGPT and Gemini support, not Claude, as of July 2026.
Assuming self-hosted data ownership. The deal is the cloud version.
Buying Plan 1 for a busy shop. 10,000 messages a month goes quickly if chatbot and agent replies count toward it. Check last month’s chat volume first.
Buying one licence for many sites. There’s no agency licence on the listing.
Skipping the free account. The founder invites you to try a free account before buying. Use it.
Who Support Board suits
A small online shop. Plan 1 covers live chat, a chatbot and WhatsApp for three agents.
A service business taking bookings. The TidyCal integration lets the chatbot create bookings in chat.
A growing support team. Plan 3 or 4 for more agents and volume.
An agency serving many clients. Wait for an agency option, or budget a licence per client.
How to test it inside the refund window
- Create the free account first and connect your website chat.
- Train the chatbot on your help pages and ask it ten real customer questions.
- Connect WhatsApp or Messenger and run a conversation end to end.
- Check your OpenAI usage after a week to estimate the monthly cost.
- Ask support a setup question and note the reply time.
What we couldn’t check
We didn’t run conversations, measure chatbot accuracy or estimate OpenAI costs for a real workload. We couldn’t confirm where cloud-version data is hosted. Settle those before day 60.
FAQ: Support Board questions
Is Support Board a one-time payment on AppSumo?
Yes: $69, $138, $207 or $276 once, with message limits that reset monthly.
Are OpenAI costs included in the Support Board lifetime deal?
No. Every plan card says “OpenAI and third-party service fees not included.”
Is the AppSumo deal the cloud or self-hosted version?
The cloud version. You create a free account and upgrade it to your AppSumo tier.
Does Support Board support WhatsApp?
Yes. The listing describes two-way WhatsApp messaging, voice calls, WhatsApp Flows and bulk messages.
The verdict
Support Board is a broad, mature messaging platform, and the cloud deal includes the apps that the self-hosted version sells separately. Read it as a lifetime platform licence with monthly message caps, and budget separately for OpenAI and channel fees. Weigh the missing AppSumo guarantee and the lack of an agency licence, try the free account, and test the chatbot on real questions before day 60.
