Bottom line: AIWriteBook is a browser-based studio for writing a book with AI and getting it to market. It learns your voice from a writing sample, builds characters and outlines, writes chapters one at a time, edits the manuscript, designs a cover, and exports a print PDF, EPUB and DOCX sized for KDP. On AppSumo it sells four lifetime tiers at $79, $159, $319 and $519 once. The catch is the credit allowance. Tier 1 gives 500 credits a month, where the Plus plan whose yearly price the listing strikes through gives 1,000; Tier 3 gives 2,500, where Ultra gives 25,000. Credits reset every month and don’t roll over. The listing is “Covered by our We Got Your Back guarantee” and refundable up to 60 days.
Best for: authors who write steadily, a book every month or two, and want drafting, editing, covers and KDP files in one place.
Think twice if: you plan to edit long manuscripts, narrate audiobooks or publish several books a month on Tier 1 or Tier 2.
We have no affiliate deal with AIWriteBook or AppSumo; links go to the official pages. How we review.
Updated 29 October 2026. This AIWriteBook review rests on what we read that day: the AIWriteBook listing on AppSumo, including all four tiers, the deal terms, the founders’ update posts, questions and reviews, and AIWriteBook’s own pricing page with its credit table and FAQ, plus its Expert Book page. We haven’t written a book with it, so we describe the plans, the credit costs and what buyers report, not the quality of the prose.

What AIWriteBook does
AIWriteBook runs in the browser. You start a book as fiction, nonfiction, a series, a visual book or an “Expert book,” and it walks you through stages. The founders’ FAQ on the listing says there are over 45 tools, grouped by stage:
- Writing: outlines, characters, plot twists, scenes, world building and series planning. When you import a half-finished Word .docx, it picks up where you stopped.
- Voice: paste or upload a sample of your own writing and chapters are written to match its “voice, rhythm and dialogue.”
- Editing: a book editor that reads the whole manuscript, scores it “on 30 criteria for its genre,” writes an editorial letter, and proposes line edits you accept or reject. A grammar check, humanizer and plagiarism check sit alongside.
- Publishing: a print-ready PDF interior, a wrap cover with the spine sized to your page count, an EPUB and a DOCX. The FAQ says the print files meet the specs KDP, IngramSpark, Lulu and Draft2Digital accept. Amazon keyword and category research is built in.
- Launch: a public author page with a reader email list (Tier 2 and up), a press kit, ARC review requests, launch graphics and subscriber emails.
Chapters can be written with Gemini, Grok or Claude, each at a different credit price. Tiers 3 and 4 can also connect an OpenRouter key and pick from 100+ models. The listing says books can be written in 37 languages; the vendor’s pricing page says 38. A small difference, but worth knowing if your language is a rare one.
The company is young. The listing says it was founded December 31, 2025, in London, with a team of 1-10, bootstrapped. Co-founder Mykyta Chernenko writes on the listing that they built the pipeline in summer 2025 to produce books for NanoReads, their own reading platform, and opened it to everyone at the end of 2025.
The credit allowance is the real plan
Here’s what most people miss on this deal. Every action costs credits, and each tier gets a fixed number per month. AIWriteBook’s own FAQ for AppSumo buyers puts it plainly: credits “refresh monthly on your activation anniversary and reset to the full monthly amount,” and “unused AppSumo credits do not accumulate month to month.”
The prices, from the listing’s FAQ and the vendor’s credit table, read on 29 October 2026:
| Action | Credits |
|---|---|
| Chapter outline | 3 per chapter |
| Write a chapter (Gemini / Grok / Claude) | 15 / 20 / 30 |
| AI chat edit | 5 |
| Book cover | 30 |
| Illustration | 15 |
| Book Editor | 15 per 1,000 words, once per book |
| Formatting | 200 once per book |
| Audiobook | 1 per 12.5 characters, 20% more with several voices |
| Translation | 15 per chapter plus 30 per book |
| Internet research (after first book) | 100 a run |
| Expert Book unlock | 2,500 per book, Tier 3 and 4 |
Now set those costs against the struck-through prices. The listing prints $144 next to Tier 1, $360 next to Tier 2 and $1,440 next to Tier 3. Those match AIWriteBook’s own yearly prices for Plus, Pro and Ultra. Those plans come with 1,000, 5,000 and 25,000 credits a month. The AppSumo tiers come with 500, 1,000 and 2,500. So each tier is priced against a plan that gives two, five or ten times its monthly credits. The $2,000 next to Tier 4 matched no plan we could find on the vendor’s pricing page.
In practice, the credit pool, not the tick list, decides what you can do each month. That doesn’t make the deal bad. A lifetime allowance of 500 credits a month, paid once, can outlast several years of a subscription. But read the struck-through figure as the price of a bigger plan, not the value of this one.
Worked examples with real sums
These use only the credit prices above. Turns out the gap between tiers matters far more for editing and audio than for drafting.
A 15-chapter novel on Tier 1. Outlines cost 45 credits (15 × 3). Fifteen chapters with Gemini cost 225 (15 × 15). One cover is 30 and formatting is 200. That’s exactly 500, the whole month, with nothing left for a single chat edit or a regenerated chapter. Write the same chapters with Claude and the chapters alone cost 450, so skip the Claude option for first drafts if credits are tight. In practice, Tier 1 drafts and formats roughly one short novel a month if you don’t rewrite much. The vendor’s own FAQ estimates “~2 books/month” for Plus, which has twice the credits.
Running the Book Editor on an 80,000-word manuscript. At 15 credits per 1,000 words, that’s 1,200 credits, charged once per book, with free re-runs after. Tier 1 (500) and Tier 2 (1,000) can’t cover it in one month, and since credits reset rather than pile up, you can’t save for it either. Tier 3’s 2,500 covers it with 1,300 to spare. If you’ve got a finished draft you mainly want edited, honestly, this sum should decide your tier.
An audiobook chapter. The vendor’s own example says a 2,000-word chapter is “about 11,000 characters.” At 1 credit per 12.5 characters, the rate on the listing’s FAQ, that’s 880 credits single-voice. Tier 2’s 1,000 credits covers about one chapter a month. The vendor’s pricing page muddles this: its table says “1 credit / 12.5 characters,” its own description says “1 credit per 50 characters,” and its worked example (220 credits) follows the 50-character rate. We couldn’t settle which applies. The August 2026 founder update gives one escape: connect your own ElevenLabs key and “a render batch costs 1 credit,” though you then pay ElevenLabs. If you’ve already got an ElevenLabs account, that changes the maths for Tier 2 entirely.
An Expert Book on Tier 3. The unlock is 2,500 credits per book, which is Tier 3’s entire month. A buyer asked on 27 October 2026 whether that meant “only one book per month with Tier 3.” The founder replied that regular fiction and nonfiction cost “about 18 credits per chapter with Gemini,” so a 15-chapter book is under 300. That’s true, and it matches our sums. But it means Expert Book and regular writing compete for the same monthly pool.
Topping up. Credit packs cost $20 for 250 or $50 for 2,000, valid three months. At the $50 rate, a credit is worth 2.5 cents, so Tier 1’s monthly 500 is worth about $12.50 of pack credits, and Tier 4’s 5,000 about $125.

One-time prices on AppSumo, read 29 October 2026; one code per tier, and stacked codes add their monthly credits. AIWriteBook's own site lists Free ($0, 100 credits), Plus $20 a month or $144 a year (1,000 credits a month), Pro $50 a month or $360 a year (5,000) and Ultra $200 a month or $1,440 a year (25,000), with a 7-day money-back guarantee. Credit packs cost $20 for 250 or $50 for 2,000, valid 3 months.
Prices checked Oct 29, 2026 on AIWriteBook’s own pricing page. Lifetime deals are listings that can end or change, so check the live listing before you buy.
Two smaller details from AIWriteBook’s FAQ for AppSumo buyers. The standard PDF of a picture book carries a watermark on Tiers 1 and 2, though “the print-ready files from the Format step never have a watermark on any tier.” And when you stack codes, the monthly credits add up while “features follow your highest tier,” so two Tier 4 codes give 10,000 credits a month.
The deal vs AIWriteBook’s own plans
AIWriteBook’s own pricing, read on 29 October 2026:
| Vendor plan | Monthly | Yearly | Credits a month |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | $0 | 100 to start |
| Plus | $20 | $144 ($12/mo) | 1,000 |
| Pro | $50 | $360 ($30/mo) | 5,000 |
| Ultra | $200 | $1,440 ($120/mo) | 25,000 |
The deal terms promise “All future Plus (Tier 1), Pro (Tiers 2-4) plan updates.” The vendor’s FAQ confirms it: “Tier 1 is linked to our Plus plan and Tiers 2 to 4 to our Pro plan.” So even Tier 3, priced against Ultra, follows Pro for updates. Ultra’s extras on the vendor site, such as newest models “rolled out to Ultra first” and an onboarding call, aren’t promised to AppSumo buyers. BYOK is the exception: it’s an Ultra feature on the vendor’s site, and Tiers 3 and 4 get it.
Payback is simple arithmetic. Tier 1 at $79 costs about four months of Plus billed monthly, or roughly half a year of Plus billed yearly, with half the credits. If you’d keep writing for two years or more, the lifetime tier comes out ahead even at 500 credits. Don’t forget the refund gap too: AppSumo gives 60 days, where the vendor’s own plans carry a “7-Day Money Back” guarantee.
What buyers report
The listing shows 4.73 stars from 216 reviews: 176 five-taco, 28 four, 7 three, 4 two and 1 one. It shows 1,345 bought and 150 questions.
Support answers fast, and the founders answer themselves. A 28 October 2026 reviewer said support “always responded immediately with very exhaustive answers.” Every question we read from 19 to 28 October had a reply from Mykyta or Artem within about a day.
Import has rough edges. A three-star review on 28 October 2026, from a buyer who finished their first book, said non-chapter sections like a foreword and “about the author” were lost on import, images had to be re-added by hand, the PDF didn’t include the front cover, and familiar shortcuts like Ctrl+B don’t work in the editor.
The editor can’t accept single words. A Tier 3 buyer asked on 27 October whether they could keep some word swaps in a paragraph and reject others. The founder’s 28 October reply: “Right now, no.” The workaround is asking for smaller edits, at 5 credits per instruction.
Visuals are manual. On 25 October co-founder Artem said generating visuals from chapter content is “not supported,” and that it does not build accurate flowcharts or infographics. Images go in one at a time, 15 credits each.
Nonfiction facts were a known problem. The founder’s own 28 October 2026 update admits that nonfiction chapters “had facts you couldn’t check, and some were just made up,” and announced internet research with cited sources as the fix. Reviewers still advise fact-checking everything.
The terms
The deal terms read:
- “Get lifetime access to AIWriteBook.”
- “All future Plus (Tier 1), Pro (Tiers 2-4) plan updates.”
- “If the plan name linked to your deal changes, it will automatically transfer to the new plan with all updates.”
- “Activate your license within 60 days—you can upgrade while the deal is live but can only downgrade within 60 days of purchase.”
- “Access to all future AI models may be provided at a discounted rate OR Access to future AI models may require an add on.”
The guarantee line reads “Covered by our We Got Your Back guarantee,” and the listing is “Refundable up to 60 days.” The last term is the one to weigh: new AI models aren’t guaranteed to come with your tier. Don’t forget the fourth one either. You can upgrade while the deal is live, but downgrading is only possible within 60 days of purchase, so a cautious buyer starts low. The listing also says “Limited-time deal,” so don’t count on these tiers staying for sale.
AIWriteBook vs Novelcrafter, Scrivener and Sudowrite
The listing names Novelcrafter, Scrivener and Sudowrite as alternatives. We didn’t read or price any of them for this review, so we won’t compare features or costs. One reviewer quoted on AIWriteBook’s own site says its import of a 100,000-word script did “a better job than the more established Sudowrite,” which is one person’s experience. What we can say is where AIWriteBook’s scope sits: it goes past drafting into editing, cover design, KDP formatting, audiobooks and launch emails. If you only want help drafting prose, compare that narrower job with the other three before paying for the rest.
Common mistakes with the AIWriteBook deal
Reading $144 as Tier 1’s value. Most people miss this one. It’s the price of Plus for a year, which has twice the credits.
Expecting credits to pile up. They reset monthly. A quiet month is lost, not banked.
Buying Tier 1 or 2 to edit long manuscripts. An 80,000-word edit needs 1,200 credits in one month.
Assuming audiobooks are cheap. At the listing’s rate, one 2,000-word chapter is about 880 credits. Connect an ElevenLabs key if you narrate a lot.
Buying Tier 3 for Ultra’s perks. Updates follow Pro. You get BYOK, not Ultra’s credits or early models.
Skipping the free account. AIWriteBook’s FAQ says you can test on a free account first, with 100 credits and one AI-written chapter, and keep everything when you redeem.
Who AIWriteBook suits
A fiction author who writes in their own voice. The style builder and chapter-by-chapter editing are the core, and Tier 2 or 3 gives room to rewrite.
A coach or consultant with material for a book. Expert Book on Tier 3 or 4 builds the book from your talks and documents.
A small publisher putting out several titles. Tier 4, or stacked codes, plus BYOK to cut chapter costs to 1 credit.
Someone who wants a picture book or illustrated nonfiction with diagrams. Visual books start at Tier 3, and accurate diagrams aren’t supported. Skip the deal for diagram-heavy work.
How to test it inside the refund window
- Start on a free account and import a real chapter of your draft before redeeming. When you do, check that front matter and images survived.
- Write three chapters in your voice with each model, and note the credits each one used.
- Run the Book Editor on a long sample and check the charge against your tier.
- Export the print PDF and EPUB and check front matter, images and the cover.
- Check your balance after two weeks and work out whether a month’s allowance fits your pace.
What we couldn’t check
We didn’t write, edit or narrate a book, so we can’t judge the prose, the editing advice or the voices. We couldn’t settle the audiobook rate, which the vendor’s pricing page gives as both 12.5 and 50 characters per credit. We couldn’t confirm whether Tier 1 includes the full Book Editor, which the vendor lists under Pro. The FAQ for AppSumo buyers we quote sits in the data of AIWriteBook’s pricing page rather than on a page of its own. Settle these with support before day 60.
FAQ: AIWriteBook questions
Is AIWriteBook a one-time payment on AppSumo?
Yes. Tier 1 is $79, Tier 2 $159, Tier 3 $319 and Tier 4 $519, each once, as read on 29 October 2026.
How many credits does the AIWriteBook lifetime deal include?
500, 1,000, 2,500 or 5,000 a month by tier. They refresh on your activation date and don’t roll over.
Can I use my own API key with AIWriteBook?
On Tiers 3 and 4, yes, through OpenRouter. Each action on your key costs 1 credit, and you pay OpenRouter separately.
Do I have to declare AIWriteBook books as AI-generated on KDP?
The founder answered this on the listing in October 2026: for chapters written in AIWriteBook, “the honest answer is ‘AI-generated’.” You upload to KDP yourself.
The verdict
AIWriteBook covers more of the book-making job than most writing tools, from voice-matched drafting to KDP files and an author page, and its founders answer questions in public within a day. The deal is covered by AppSumo’s guarantee and refundable for 60 days. The limit is the monthly credit pool: half to a tenth of the vendor plan each tier is priced against, with no rollover. Pick your tier from the sums for the work you’ll actually do, and for editing or audio that usually means Tier 3.
