ElkQR review: unlimited QR codes, but your printed codes depend on where they point

ElkQR makes dynamic and static QR codes with custom domains, team workspaces and scan analytics. AppSumo sells it at $39, $78 or $117 once, matching the limits of plans ElkQR sells for $190 to $590 a year. What each tier gets, and the storage cap to read first.

Bottom line: ElkQR is a hosted QR code platform from a small, bootstrapped team in Mysuru, India. It makes dynamic codes you can edit after printing, static codes, branded landing pages, booking pages and vCards, and it tracks every scan. On AppSumo it sells three plans: $39, $78 and $117 once, read on 29 October 2026. Every plan has unlimited QR codes and scans; the tiers differ in workspaces, team members, custom domains and storage, which is 2 GB on Plans 1 and 2 and 6 GB on Plan 3. Those limits match ElkQR’s own Growth Starter, Growth Pro and Enterprise plans, which it sells for $190, $290 and $590 a year. The listing carries no “We Got Your Back” guarantee, but it is “Refundable up to 60 days.”

Best for: small businesses, marketers and agencies printing QR codes on menus, packaging, flyers and cards who want to edit and track them without a monthly bill.

Think twice if: you need heavy file hosting on the cheaper tiers, or you can’t live with your printed codes relying on a 1-10 person company.

We have no affiliate deal with ElkQR or AppSumo; links go to the official pages. How we review.

Updated 29 October 2026. This ElkQR review rests on what we read that day: the ElkQR listing on AppSumo, including all three plans, the deal terms, the founder’s update posts, questions and reviews, and ElkQR’s own pricing page, plus its refund policy and FAQ. We haven’t printed or scanned codes with it, so we describe the plans, the limits and what buyers report, not scan speed.

What ElkQR does

ElkQR is a web app. You make a QR code, pick a type, style it, and print or share it. The useful part is the dynamic code. When you print one, the pattern points to a short link, and you can change where that link goes after the code is on a thousand flyers. The listing says it plainly: “Change destination data for dynamic codes even after distribution.”

The feature list on every AppSumo plan is the same. It covers dynamic and static codes, a custom link alias, custom landing pages and a landing page/UTM builder, pixel tracking, public stats sharing, password protection, scheduled codes, one-time scannable codes, pause and resume, bulk creation, a file manager and folder manager, a GDPR pop-up, meta tag customisation, a weekly account summary, auto SSL and CDN, and “100+ apps supported” for deep linking. The card also lists priority support.

Code types are where the pages disagree. The AppSumo overview says “Choose from 18 QR code types,” the listing’s own FAQ says “support for 19 QR code types,” and ElkQR’s FAQ says “21 QR code types.” The examples are consistent: URLs, vCards, PDFs, menus, video galleries, payment codes, WiFi, booking pages and feedback pages. Honestly, the count matters less than whether the one type you need is there, so check it during the trial.

The update log on the listing shows a product that keeps moving. ElkQR announced a full rebuild, “V3,” in October 2025 and posted that the migration was complete on 28 December 2025. Since then the founder has posted a Chrome extension (January 2026), webhooks (January 2026) and an experiment that creates QR codes from Telegram (March 2026). The V3 post also lists smart rules, a booking page with webhook support, a feedback page that routes happy customers to public reviews, custom SMTP, multi-language support and an account activity log.

The one thing most people miss: where your printed codes point

Most people miss this when they buy any dynamic QR tool for life. A dynamic code is a link that runs through the vendor’s servers. ElkQR’s own refund policy says what happens to subscribers who stop paying: “After subscription ends, QR codes become inaccessible.” A lifetime deal removes the subscription, but it doesn’t remove the dependency. Your printed codes work as long as ElkQR is running and your account is in good standing.

That’s not a reason to skip the deal. It’s a reason to use the feature every plan includes: custom domains. Plan 1 gives you 10. When your codes point to a subdomain you own, such as qr.yourbrand.com, the printed link belongs to you at the DNS level, not to ElkQR’s short domain. In September 2026 a buyer asked whether existing dynamic codes on a custom domain could be moved “without reprinting.” The founder’s reply, two days later: “Yes, you can migrate existing dynamic QRs on a custom domain without reprinting.” In practice, set up the domain before you print the first code, not after.

The second limit: storage

Unlimited codes and scans read like no limits at all. Turns out storage is the cap that actually bites. Plans 1 and 2 both carry “Overall storage 2 GB.” Only Plan 3 has 6 GB. Storage is used by anything ElkQR hosts for you when you upload instead of linking: PDFs behind a menu code, images, video galleries, files in the file manager. A link code that sends people to your own website uses almost none.

ElkQR’s own comparison table also lists bulk creation caps per plan, “80 rows,” “120 rows” and “220 rows,” and API access at “60 req/min” on every plan. The AppSumo cards list “Bulk QR code creation” without a row figure and don’t mention an API rate. In April 2025 the founder wrote that “AppSumo API limits will be updated soon.” We found no later figure on the listing, so don’t skip this question: ask support which caps apply to your code.

One-time prices on AppSumo, read 29 October 2026; each plan is a number of stacked codes (1 to 3). The listing shows $290, $580 and $870 struck through. ElkQR's own site sells Growth Starter $19/month or $190/year, Growth Pro $29 or $290, and Enterprise $59 or $590, with a 14-day free trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee.

Prices checked Oct 29, 2026 on ElkQR’s own pricing page. Lifetime deals are listings that can end or change, so check the live listing before you buy.

The listing shows “-87%” next to Plan 1 with $290 struck through. That figure is the listing’s, not ours, and it doesn’t match ElkQR’s price for the plan with the same limits. Plan 1 mirrors Growth Starter, which ElkQR sells at $190 a year; $290 is the yearly price of Growth Pro. Honestly, skip the struck-through numbers; read them as AppSumo’s framing and compare against the vendor’s own page instead.

Picking a plan: three worked examples

A café with two locations. Each site has a menu PDF of about 3 MB, a WiFi code, a feedback code and a booking code. Even updating menus monthly and keeping old versions, that’s around 72 MB a year. Plan 1’s 2 GB lasts decades at that rate. Ten workspaces is far more than two shops need. Plan 1 at $39 is the buy.

A real estate agent with listing videos. If you’ve got 25 listings a year, each with a 60 MB walkthrough video in a gallery code, that’s 1.5 GB in a single year. Plan 1 or 2 fills up in about 16 months unless you delete old files. Plan 3’s 6 GB lasts roughly four years at that pace. Better still, host the video on YouTube or your own site and point a link code at it, which keeps you on Plan 1.

An agency running codes for 30 clients. One workspace per client puts you past Plan 1’s 10 and inside Plan 2’s 40. But if each client wants its own branded domain, Plan 2’s 40 domains cover it, while Plan 3 removes the ceiling for growth. When you’re unsure, the jump from $78 to $117 is $39, which is about two months of ElkQR’s own Growth Starter on a monthly bill.

The deal vs ElkQR’s own plans

ElkQR’s pricing page, read on 29 October 2026:

ElkQR’s own planMonthlyYearlyMatches
Growth Starter$19$190AppSumo Plan 1
Growth Pro$29$290AppSumo Plan 2
Enterprise$59$590AppSumo Plan 3

The limits line up exactly: 10, 40 and unlimited workspaces, team members and domains, and 2, 2 and 6 GB of storage. So the sums are easy. Plan 1 costs about the same as two months of Growth Starter paid monthly ($38). Plan 3 costs $117 against $590 for a year of Enterprise. If you’ve already got a monthly ElkQR subscription, the deal pays for itself fast. ElkQR offers a 14-day free trial with no card, and a 30-day money-back guarantee on first subscriptions. AppSumo’s window is 60 days.

One wrinkle: the deal terms promise “All future Growth Plan updates.” ElkQR sells two Growth plans, Starter and Pro, plus Enterprise, which isn’t called Growth. Plan 3’s limits match Enterprise, so ask support which plan’s future updates Plan 3 follows before your refund window closes.

What buyers report

The listing shows 4.88 stars from 242 reviews, with 221 five-taco ratings and two ratings of two tacos or fewer. The page rounds the same figure to 4.9 in one spot and 4.8 in its AI summary.

Long-term users are steady. In October 2026 one reviewer wrote that they’d “used this for over a year without any issues,” with solid analytics. A September 2026 review said nearly the same, adding that reporting is “slightly limited.” Two people a month apart naming the same gap is worth noting when you need detailed client reports.

Support gets praised. An August 2026 review said the team “responded quickly” and took time to understand the problem; the founder’s reply mentions getting their calendars sorted. A late-October 2026 review called the interface clean enough that most things take “two or three clicks.”

Founder answers are fast, but not always complete. In August 2026 a buyer reported that booking pages stayed in English after switching public pages to French; the founder fixed it the next day. The buyer’s follow-up on the 30th, asking for 24-hour time and a French appointment summary, had no reply we could find. In October 2026 another buyer asked whether contact details in a code could be updated without reprinting; that follow-up was also unanswered when we read the page.

Tone, once. In August 2026 a buyer asked about the roadmap. The founder said they “can’t share” plans, and the buyer called the reply “quite aggressive.” It’s one exchange among many polite ones, but it’s on the page.

Feature gaps people asked about. There’s no MCP server (“no MCP server on our side at the moment,” September 2026), and social previews don’t copy the destination’s Open Graph data automatically; you fill the title, description and image yourself.

The terms

The deal terms read:

  • “Lifetime access to ElkQR.”
  • “You must redeem your code(s) within 60 days of purchase.”
  • “All future Growth Plan updates.”
  • “Stack up to 3 codes.”

The guarantee line reads: No “We Got Your Back” guarantee. “This listing is managed by the partner who built the product — we haven’t vetted it, so this guarantee doesn’t apply.” The refund line still reads “Refundable up to 60 days from your purchase date.” Like every AppSumo listing, this one can end, so don’t treat today’s prices as permanent.

ElkQR vs Bitly and Rebrandly

The listing names Bitly and Rebrandly as alternatives. Both are best known as link shorteners that also do QR codes; ElkQR is the other way round, a QR platform with a URL shortener included. We didn’t price Bitly or Rebrandly for this review, and we didn’t read their current plan limits, so we won’t compare features line by line. What we can say: ElkQR’s AppSumo plans are one-time, and the listing’s own pitch is that it “Does the same job for a one-time price.” Check whether that’s true for the job you actually do.

Common mistakes with the ElkQR deal

Printing on ElkQR’s short domain. Set up a custom domain first. Every plan includes at least 10.

Reading “unlimited” as no limits. Codes and scans are unlimited. Storage is 2 GB on Plans 1 and 2.

Hosting large videos inside ElkQR. Point a link code at YouTube or your site instead, and keep storage for PDFs and images.

Assuming bulk and API caps. Most people forget to ask. ElkQR’s own page lists 80 to 220 bulk rows and 60 API requests a minute. Ask what applies to AppSumo codes.

Buying Plan 3 without asking about updates. The terms say “Growth Plan updates”; Plan 3 matches Enterprise.

Skipping the redemption deadline. Don’t forget: codes must be redeemed within 60 days.

Who ElkQR suits

A shop, café or salon. Plan 1 covers menus, WiFi, booking and feedback codes with room to spare.

A marketing freelancer. Plan 1 or 2, depending on how many client workspaces you run.

An agency. Plan 3 for unlimited workspaces, team members and domains. The founder confirmed client workspaces and API access on Plan 3.

Anyone storing lots of video. Skip the in-app galleries, or budget for Plan 3.

How to test it inside the refund window

  1. Connect a custom domain and make one dynamic code on it. In practice, this is the step that protects everything you print later.
  2. Print a test code, scan it, then change the destination and scan again.
  3. Upload your heaviest file and check how much of the 2 GB it uses.
  4. Try a bulk import at your real volume and note where it stops.
  5. Invite a team member to one workspace and confirm they can’t see the others.

What we couldn’t check

We didn’t create, print or scan codes, or test scan speed or uptime. We couldn’t confirm which bulk-row and API limits apply to AppSumo codes, which plan’s updates Plan 3 follows under “Growth Plan updates,” or why the listing, its FAQ and ElkQR’s FAQ give three different counts of QR code types. Settle the first two with support before day 60.

FAQ: ElkQR questions

Is ElkQR a one-time payment on AppSumo?

Yes. On 29 October 2026, Plan 1 was $39, Plan 2 $78 and Plan 3 $117, each once, with a 60-day refund window.

Are QR codes really unlimited on the ElkQR lifetime deal?

QR codes, scans and stat retention are listed as unlimited on all three plans. Storage is capped at 2 GB on Plans 1 and 2 and 6 GB on Plan 3.

What happens to my printed ElkQR codes if I stop using it?

Dynamic codes route through ElkQR. Its refund policy says that for subscriptions, “After subscription ends, QR codes become inaccessible.” Using your own custom domain gives you more control over printed links.

Can I use ElkQR for client work?

The founder said in September 2026 that one Plan 3 account can manage codes for multiple paying clients, each in its own workspace. A buyer asked in October whether that applies to all three plans; we found no answer.

The verdict

ElkQR is a well-reviewed, actively updated QR platform, and the AppSumo plans match ElkQR’s own paid tiers at a one-time price lower than a few months of subscription. The real decisions are about storage, if you host files, and about domains, because printed codes outlive most marketing plans. Put your codes on your own domain, check the bulk and API caps with support, and Plan 1 is an easy buy for most small businesses.
