MetaSurvey review: every AppSumo plan has a monthly response cap that Pro doesn't

MetaSurvey builds card-style surveys, quizzes and forms that people answer by swiping or tapping. AppSumo sells four one-time plans from $78, each with a monthly response cap; MetaSurvey's own Pro plan is $120 a year with unlimited responses.

Bottom line: MetaSurvey is a survey, quiz and form builder that shows one question at a time as a card, which respondents answer by swiping or tapping. It’s made by a small bootstrapped company in Georgia, founded in December 2019. On AppSumo it sells four one-time plans, $78, $156, $234 and $312, and each one caps how many responses you can collect a month: 1,500, 5,000, 10,000 or 15,000. MetaSurvey’s own Pro plan costs $12 a month or $120 a year and lists unlimited responses. So the deal is cheaper over time, but it’s never unlimited, and branding removal, custom themes and custom domains sit on the higher tiers. The listing is “Not covered by We Got Your Back,” and it’s refundable up to 60 days.

Best for: coaches, course creators and small shops who want short, friendly feedback or lead-gen quizzes and can predict their monthly volume.

Think twice if: you run large public surveys with spiky traffic, or you need long free-text questionnaires and deep reporting.

Updated 29 October 2026. This MetaSurvey review rests on what we read that day: the MetaSurvey listing on AppSumo, including all four plans, the deal terms, the founder’s update posts, questions and reviews, and MetaSurvey’s own pricing page with its feature table and FAQ. We haven’t built or sent a survey with it, so we describe the plans, the limits and what buyers report, not completion rates.

What MetaSurvey does

Most survey tools show a long page of questions. MetaSurvey shows one card at a time. The listing’s headline feature is the “Tinder-like” survey: a visual yes/no question where people swipe right for yes and left for no. In a July 2026 answer the founder put it plainly: users “swipe right for ‘Yes’ or left for ‘No,’ though they can also answer by clicking the buttons.”

The listing’s overview names these question types:

  • Swipe-based yes/no, with images allowed on swipe questions.
  • Likert scales with stars and smiles, and NPS on a 0-10 scale.
  • Multiple and single choice.
  • Email and phone number collection.
  • Short and long text, plus number input for age or postal code.

Around the questions you get conditional logic, branching and calculated fields, more than one thank-you screen, redirects at the last step, password protection, translations into any language, and sharing by link, QR code or website embed. Results show as charts per question, with CSV export. The listing names Excel, Google Sheets, Pabbly Connect and webhooks as integrations; MetaSurvey’s own pricing page describes integrations as “Sync responses with Google Sheets or Pabbly,” plus a webhook. We didn’t see Zapier named on either page.

Two recent additions matter. In August 2025 the founder posted version 4, with AI that drafts a survey from a prompt and Unsplash images inside the builder. In September 2026 came MCP support, so an AI agent such as Claude Code or Codex can create and edit surveys; that post says “Available on ALL tiers!” And on 19 October 2026 the founder added right-to-left layouts for Arabic, Hebrew, Persian, Urdu and other RTL languages.

The response cap most people miss

Here’s the detail most people miss. Every AppSumo plan card has the same “Unlimited” lines for swipe surveys and questions, which reads like an unlimited plan. It isn’t. Each card also says “Collect up to” a set number of “responses and comments every month”:

  • Plan 1 ($78): 1,500 a month, 1 collaborator.
  • Plan 2 ($156): 5,000 a month, remove branding, 2 collaborators.
  • Plan 3 ($234): 10,000 a month, remove branding, 1 custom domain, custom themes, 3 collaborators, multiple recipients.
  • Plan 4 ($312): 15,000 a month, remove branding, 3 custom domains, custom themes, 4 collaborators, multiple recipients.

The good news is how a response is counted. A buyer asked in July 2026 whether a 10-question quiz counts as ten responses or one. The founder replied the next day: “The response in MetaSurvey is a quiz submission.” MetaSurvey’s own FAQ says the same: “A survey with ten questions still counts as one response.”

What happens when you go over? MetaSurvey’s own FAQ says, for its own plans, that “Responses above the limit are still collected but hidden from your analytics. Upgrade your plan to unlock them.” The AppSumo listing doesn’t say whether the same rule applies to a lifetime code, or whether hidden responses come back when the month resets. Ask support before you rely on it.

One-time prices on AppSumo, read 29 October 2026; each plan is a number of stacked codes (1 to 4). MetaSurvey's own site lists Free (25 responses in total) and Pro at $12 a month or $120 a year with unlimited responses, refundable within 14 days if you've collected 25 or fewer responses.

Prices checked Oct 29, 2026 on MetaSurvey’s own pricing page. Lifetime deals are listings that can end or change, so check the live listing before you buy.

The deal vs MetaSurvey’s own plans

MetaSurvey’s own pricing page, read on 29 October 2026, has two plans:

MetaSurvey’s own planPriceResponsesAdds
Free$025 in total, not per monthMost features, including logic, embeds, AI and MCP
Pro$12 a month or $120 a yearUnlimitedCollaborators, custom domain, remove branding, custom favicon, social preview image, multiple email recipients

So the vendor sells a subscription, and the AppSumo plans are a separate ladder with caps that the vendor’s own Pro plan doesn’t have. The deal terms promise “All future plan updates,” which doesn’t name a matching plan. In practice, read it as updates to whatever your tier includes, not as a route to Pro’s unlimited responses.

There’s one place where the two pages disagree. On MetaSurvey’s own table, custom themes (“Change background, button, and text colors”) carry a tick on the Free plan. On AppSumo, “Custom themes” appears only on Plans 3 and 4, with “Default themes” on every plan. If you need your brand colours on a $78 or $156 plan, ask support which list applies to AppSumo codes.

Picking a plan: worked examples

Turns out the right tier depends on two things: your busiest month, and whether you need your own branding.

A coach sending a feedback card after each session. Forty clients a week is about 175 completed surveys a month. Plan 1’s 1,500 is more than eight times that. The catch is branding: Plan 1 doesn’t list “Remove branding,” so your clients will see MetaSurvey’s. If that bothers you, Plan 2 is the floor.

A small online shop with a post-purchase survey. Say 3,000 orders a month and a third of buyers answer: about 1,000 responses. Plan 1 fits, barely, with room for a busy December only if it stays under 1,500. If you’ve got an on-site embed as well, add those completions too, and Plan 2’s 5,000 starts to look sensible.

A lead-gen quiz behind paid ads. A launch month with 12,000 completed quizzes fits Plan 4’s 15,000. A launch that hits 20,000 doesn’t, and the listing has no plan above that. This is where Pro’s unlimited responses at $120 a year make more sense than any lifetime code.

The cost sums. Against Pro’s $120 a year, Plan 1 at $78 costs less than one year of Pro. Plan 2 at $156 equals 1.3 years; Plan 3 at $234 is just under two years; Plan 4 at $312 is 2.6 years. Honestly, if you’ll use MetaSurvey for three years or more and stay under the cap, every tier works out cheaper. If you’ll ever outgrow 15,000 a month, skip the deal and look at Pro.

Custom domains. Plan 3 has one, Plan 4 has three. The Plan 4 figure went up from one on 16 June 2026, when the founder posted that they’d raised it after “many requests.” Don’t forget to count how many separate branded survey addresses you’ll want before choosing.

What buyers report

The listing shows 4.63 stars from 65 reviews. The founder, Kirill Tereshchenko, answers almost every review and question personally, and in a 2025 reply described themselves as “a solo dev.”

Support that ships features. An October 2026 five-star review says, “I once needed a feature, and the team implemented it within an hour.” A February 2026 reviewer who built a survey to match clients with therapists says they “struggled a little bit figuring it out” until support got them back on track.

A careful first look. An October 2026 four-star review is the most useful one on the page. The reviewer’s first AI prompt produced a survey in German, so they had to specify English, and they advise “checking the AI-generated questions carefully.” They also note it was an initial look, not a long-term test.

Older complaints, mostly answered. An April 2025 two-star review listed missing basics, including optional questions and custom fonts; the founder replied that some had shipped and later updated the reply to say optional answers were added. A February 2025 review said that “To get more than 1 user its immediately chargeable,” which matches Plan 1’s single collaborator. A June 2025 review complained of no reply for five days; the founder’s public answer said the buyer had been asking for a side deal outside AppSumo.

The custom domain change. A September 2025 three-star review came from a 2024 buyer who’d set up five custom domains, then hit a prompt to pay for more. The founder explained that plans with the feature come with one domain by default, that “Earlier this wasn’t strictly limited,” and that they’d given the buyer extra domains as a bonus. Plan limits have tightened before, so read today’s cards as the deal you’re buying.

Questions answered in 2026. No spin-wheel prize option (April). MetaSurvey doesn’t depend on Meta or Facebook, despite the name (April). Email tools such as HighLevel or AWeber connect through the webhook, not a native integration (April). There’s no limit on the number of surveys or questions (July).

The terms

The deal terms read:

  • “Lifetime access to MetaSurvey”
  • “You must redeem your code(s) within 60 days of purchase”
  • “All future plan updates”
  • “Stack up to 4 codes”

The guarantee box says No “We Got Your Back” guarantee, and adds: “This listing is managed by the partner who built the product — we haven’t vetted it, so this guarantee doesn’t apply.” The purchase box also reads “Refundable up to 60 days from your purchase date.” That’s longer than MetaSurvey’s own refund, which its FAQ limits to “within 14 days of payment, if you have collected 25 or fewer responses.” The listing shows a struck-through price next to each plan, $216 against $78 on Plan 1, and a “64% off” label; that’s the listing’s own comparison, and it’s not a figure we can check against a MetaSurvey price.

MetaSurvey vs Typeform, SurveyMonkey and Qualtrics

The listing names Qualtrics, SurveyMonkey and Typeform as the tools it replaces. We didn’t price any of them for this review, so we won’t compare costs. On the pages we read, the differences are about shape. Typeform is the best-known one-question-at-a-time builder; MetaSurvey uses a similar card format and adds the swipe question as its own twist. SurveyMonkey and Qualtrics are built for long research surveys and detailed analysis. MetaSurvey’s reporting, from the listing, is charts per question and a CSV export. If you’ve got a research team that lives in cross-tabs, that’s a real gap.

Common mistakes with the MetaSurvey deal

Reading “Unlimited” as unlimited responses. Surveys and questions are unlimited. Responses are capped every month on every tier.

Buying Plan 1 for client work. No branding removal and one collaborator. When you’re building surveys for clients, start at Plan 2.

Assuming custom themes are on every plan. AppSumo lists them on Plans 3 and 4 only, even though MetaSurvey’s own Free plan shows them. Ask first.

Counting on unlimited custom domains. One on Plan 3, three on Plan 4, and a 2025 buyer found the limit enforced after the fact.

Expecting a native CRM or email integration. Google Sheets, Excel, Pabbly Connect and webhooks are what the listing names.

Missing the redemption window. Codes must be redeemed within 60 days of purchase, so redeem straight away.

Who MetaSurvey suits

A coach or course creator collecting feedback. Short card surveys, low volume, Plan 1 or 2.

A small store asking post-purchase questions. The swipe format suits quick yes/no and NPS questions.

A marketer running quiz funnels at steady volume. Plan 3 or 4, for branding, themes and a custom domain.

A research team or a viral campaign. Skip it; the monthly cap and the reporting depth will both get in the way.

How to test it inside the refund window

  1. Rebuild your real survey, including the longest text question you ask, since a 2023 reviewer hit field-length limits.
  2. Apply your brand colours and check whether your tier allows a custom theme.
  3. Send ten test submissions and confirm the usage counter moves by ten, not by ten times your question count.
  4. Connect Google Sheets or a webhook and check each answer lands in the right column.
  5. Ask support in writing what happens to responses above your monthly cap on an AppSumo code.

What we couldn’t check

We didn’t build surveys, send them or measure how many people finish a swipe survey compared with a regular form. We couldn’t confirm what happens to responses over an AppSumo plan’s monthly cap, whether custom themes are really limited to Plans 3 and 4 when MetaSurvey’s own table shows them on Free, or which vendor plan “All future plan updates” refers to. Settle those before day 60.

FAQ: MetaSurvey questions

Is MetaSurvey a one-time payment on AppSumo?

Yes. Plan 1 is $78, Plan 2 $156, Plan 3 $234 and Plan 4 $312, once, for 1 to 4 stacked codes, as read on 29 October 2026.

How many responses does the MetaSurvey lifetime deal include?

1,500, 5,000, 10,000 or 15,000 completed submissions a month, depending on the plan. A finished 10-question quiz counts as one response.

Is the AppSumo deal better than MetaSurvey Pro?

It’s cheaper over time: even Plan 4 equals about 2.6 years of Pro at $120 a year. But Pro lists unlimited responses, and no AppSumo plan does.

Can I remove MetaSurvey branding on the cheapest plan?

No. “Remove branding” is listed from Plan 2 upward.

The verdict

MetaSurvey is a friendly, actively updated survey builder from a one-person company that answers its buyers in public, often within a day. The swipe cards, AI drafting, MCP and new RTL support give it more than its price suggests. The deal is good value if your monthly volume is predictable and sits well under the cap; it’s the wrong buy if you’ll ever need unlimited responses, which only the vendor’s own Pro plan offers. Pick the tier by your busiest month and your branding needs, not by the “Unlimited” lines, and use the 60 days to test both.
