OnlineCourseHost review: three courses a code, and bring your own video host

OnlineCourseHost.com is a course platform with AI helpers, a community and a site builder, from $99 once on AppSumo. Each code adds 3 courses, one site and one domain, and the plan card says external video hosting is required.

Bottom line: OnlineCourseHost.com is a hosted course platform from a bootstrapped Brussels company. You build a branded academy, sell courses through Stripe or PayPal, run a student community and use AI to draft lessons, quizzes and thumbnails. On AppSumo each $99 code gives you 3 courses, 1 course website and 1 custom domain, and you can stack as many codes as you like. Two limits decide whether it fits. The plan card lists “External video hosting required,” so your lesson videos live on Vimeo, YouTube or another host, even though the vendor’s own subscription plans include video hosting. And the community allows 100 active members, a cap that never resets. The listing is “Covered by our We Got Your Back guarantee” and refundable up to 60 days.

Best for: coaches and educators with a small, fixed set of courses who already host video elsewhere and want a branded site without a monthly bill.

Think twice if: you plan dozens of courses, want to upload video straight to the platform, or expect a busy community of hundreds of posting members.

Updated 29 October 2026. This OnlineCourseHost review rests on what we read that day: the OnlineCourseHost.com listing on AppSumo, including the plan table, the deal terms, the founder’s notes, buyer reviews and recent questions, and the OnlineCourseHost.com pricing page with its full feature comparison. We haven’t built a course on it, so we describe the plans, the limits and what buyers report, not page speed or video playback.

What OnlineCourseHost does

OnlineCourseHost.com is an all-in-one course platform. You get a course website on your own domain, a page builder, a course player, a checkout, and a community area, all hosted for you. The AppSumo plan table ticks these lines for every code:

  • Unlimited storage, unlimited students and unlimited admin accounts.
  • SCORM supported and helpdesk support.
  • AI creator assistant and AI student assistant. The listing says the AI can “Whip up lesson titles, images, teasers, descriptions,” and that students get answers “in real time” inside the course player.
  • Community and website builder, with rooms that can be private, public, paid or invite-only, plus roles and badges.
  • Bulk emails and an affiliate program so others can sell your courses.
  • Payments through Stripe and PayPal, with no platform fee. The listing’s FAQ says “100% of the value of each sale goes directly into your Stripe or PayPal account,” minus the processors’ own fees.
  • Lesson types: videos, quizzes, assignments, digital downloads, text lessons and audio.
  • Verifiable certificates and shareable student badges.

The listing names Pabbly Connect, PayPal, Stripe and Zapier as integrations, and lists drip emails and lesson prerequisites. In a September 2026 answer the founder team added that the deal includes 10 landing pages, and that you can run free, paid, hidden and private courses. It also said you can’t upload a file and have it turned into a course; the AI helps you write, but you still build the course yourself.

The company behind it was founded in January 2013, per the listing, and is bootstrapped with 11 to 50 staff in Brussels. Its founder, Vasco Cavalheiro, also runs Angular University, and he writes on the listing that he started OnlineCourseHost.com in 2018. The two dates don’t match; the 2013 date may be the company’s, not the product’s. He says customer data sits in a Frankfurt Google Cloud data centre.

The thing most people miss: video lives elsewhere

Here’s the line most people miss on this listing. In the middle of the plan table, with the same tick as every feature, sits “External video hosting required.” It’s a requirement, not a feature. AppSumo buyers can’t upload lesson videos to OnlineCourseHost itself; you embed them from somewhere else.

It’s easy to read past, because other pages say the opposite. AppSumo’s own curated FAQ on the listing says the product offers “unlimited video hosting and bandwidth.” The vendor’s pricing page lists “Hosting & video streaming” under “Every plan includes,” and ticks “Unlimited video hosting & bandwidth” on Basic, Pro and Unlimited. Those statements describe the subscription plans. The plan card is the one that applies to AppSumo codes, and the founder team’s answers back it up.

In September 2026 a buyer asked which plan to choose for a custom domain and branding. The reply: “if you want unlimited courses and video uploads, I would recommend purchasing our subscription-based PRO plan.” Later that month another buyer asked what it would cost to add native video hosting to a lifetime account. The answer read: “Native video hosting is available for lifetime deals. You will have to upgrade to one of our subscription-based plans at a discount to upload videos.” The first sentence reads like a missing “not,” because the second says you must upgrade. Turns out the safe reading is simple: plan on an outside host.

That isn’t fatal. The vendor’s comparison table ticks YouTube and Vimeo embeds, a Vimeo integration and “Third-party video hosting” on every plan. If you’ve already got a Vimeo account, or you’re happy with unlisted YouTube videos, the requirement costs you nothing new. If you don’t, add a video host’s bill to your sums when you compare this deal with a subscription.

There’s a second, smaller catch tied to outside links. A February 2026 review says the platform’s AI kept turning published courses back into drafts because of Vimeo and cloud-download links in the course descriptions. The founder team replied in April 2026 that an “AI toxicity checker” regulates content, that many creators use only external URLs without trouble, and offered a manual review. When you rely on outside video, don’t skip a test of this in your first week.

The community cap

The second limit sits in the community. Three questions between September and October 2026 asked about it, and the founder team’s answers agree. Your community can have any number of members, but only 100 of them can be “active.” The first 100 people to post or comment take those slots, and the count “does not reset” each month. Everyone after that can only react to posts.

A September 2026 answer said the cap “has always been capped at 100 for the PRO and AppSumo plans,” which matches the 100 active community users the vendor lists for its Pro plan. When you need a slot back, the only route is removing or banning one of the 100; in a free community, the team says, you can only ban. The other way out, per an October 2026 reply, is to “purchase the unlimited plan.” Honestly, if you’ve got a large free community in mind, this is the limit that matters most.

Plans and how codes stack

AppSumo sells OnlineCourseHost.com as stacking codes, each $99 once. The plan table, read on 29 October 2026:

CodesPriceCoursesCourse websitesCustom domains
1$99311
2$198622
3$297933
4$3961244
PlanPriceIncludes
1 Code
One signature course
$99 once 3 courses, 1 course website, 1 custom domain
2 Codes
A small catalogue
$198 once 6 courses, 2 course websites, 2 custom domains
3 Codes
Several course tracks
$297 once 9 courses, 3 course websites, 3 custom domains
4 Codes
Two academies or a larger catalogue
$396 once 12 courses, 4 course websites, 4 custom domains

One-time prices on AppSumo at $99 a code; codes stack without limit (the selector goes to 10 codes, $990). External video hosting is required on the deal. OnlineCourseHost.com's own site lists Basic $29 a month ($290 a year), Pro $65 a month ($650 a year) and Unlimited $99 a month ($990 a year), each with a 30-day free trial and video hosting included.

Prices checked Oct 29, 2026 on OnlineCourseHost’s own pricing page. Lifetime deals are listings that can end or change, so check the live listing before you buy.

Honestly, the ladder is simple: the plan selector goes up to 10 codes for $990, and the terms say “Stack unlimited codes.” The listing shows a struck-through $780 per code and “-87%”; that’s the listing’s own comparison figure, not a price we could find on the vendor’s site. The listing also says “Limited-time deal,” so don’t assume it’ll stay up.

How courses land on sites is the part most people miss. In September 2026 the founder team explained that 3 codes give “3 courses per website (3 websites), but if you redeem all the codes on one website, you get 9 courses on 1 website.” So each code’s three courses follow the site you redeem it on. The limit is also lifetime: asked whether the 3 is “overall or monthly,” the team answered “3 courses per code, for a lifetime.”

Picking a plan: three worked examples

A coach with one signature programme. One flagship course, a free mini-course as a lead magnet and a paid workshop recording come to three courses. One code at $99 covers it, on one site and one domain. Don’t forget that the free lead magnet counts as a course too.

A teacher building a small catalogue. Say you want a beginner, intermediate and advanced track in two subjects: six courses. On one academy that’s two codes, $198, redeemed on the same site. Buy them as two sites by accident and you’ll have three courses on each, with a second domain you may not need.

A training business running two brands. Two separate academies with five courses each need ten course slots across two sites. Codes come in threes, so that’s four codes, $396: two per site, giving six courses on each. In practice you round up to the next multiple of three per site, and the spare slots are your room to grow.

Compare that with the vendor’s own Pro plan, the one the deal tracks, at $65 a month or $650 a year. Four codes cost less than one year of Pro, but Pro has unlimited courses and native video hosting. If you’ve got a clear ceiling of a dozen courses and host video elsewhere, the deal is cheaper within a year. If you expect to keep adding courses, every three new ones costs another $99.

The deal vs the vendor’s own plans

OnlineCourseHost.com’s pricing page, read on 29 October 2026, sells three subscriptions, each with a 30-day free trial:

Vendor planMonthlyYearlyKey limits
Basic$29$2901 community room, 20 active community users, 1 custom page, no SCORM
Pro$65$6503 rooms, 100 active users, 10 custom pages, 5 SCORM imports
Unlimited$99$990All limits removed, priority support and account manager

All three list unlimited students and courses, 0% transaction fees and video hosting. The deal’s terms promise “All future Pro Plan updates,” and what the founder team describes lines up with Pro: 10 landing pages and 100 active community members. The AppSumo version differs in two ways that matter: 3 courses per code instead of unlimited, and external video instead of native hosting. The vendor’s table also caps the AI student assistant at 5 courses on Pro; the AppSumo table just ticks “AI student assistant,” and we couldn’t confirm whether the same cap applies.

The vendor page contradicts itself on one point. Its summary lists “Custom domain & free SSL” under every plan, but the comparison table and its own FAQ put custom domains on Pro and above. For AppSumo buyers it turns out not to matter: each code includes a custom domain.

What buyers report

The listing shows 4.48 stars from 174 reviews: 138 five-taco, 9 four, 11 three, 5 two and 11 one-taco ratings. The founder team, posting as Abisola_OnlineCourseHost, replies to most reviews.

A first-time creator is pleased. An October 2026 reviewer says they “just needed a place for videos and some documents” and “got a lot more,” and that support helped with a custom domain setup they found confusing. They write that they bought “the 3 stack for 6 courses”; the listing’s table says three codes give nine courses, and we can’t tell whether they meant an older deal’s limits.

Stacking later works. An April 2026 buyer who started with one code bought another and applied it to their existing academy.

Storage confusion, fixed. A January 2026 reviewer saw 15 GB of storage instead of the unlimited storage the listing shows. The team said the codes had been redeemed through the old deal’s link, worth 5 GB per code, and corrected it. If you’ve bought codes before, don’t forget to check your storage after redeeming.

Upgrade banners. A June 2026 reviewer who would otherwise give five tacos complains of being “bombarded with banners” for an “Exclusive Offer For Lifetime Customers.” The founder’s own notes say lifetime customers are offered an upgrade button to move to a subscription.

The AI toxicity checker. The February 2026 review above, about courses flipping back to drafts, says the helpdesk was “not a help at all on this matter.”

Most people miss how old some founder answers are. The figures for 250 customers and 8,000 in monthly revenue sit in an undated founder Q&A, and the founder’s launch post is from May 2025, so skip the temptation to read them as today’s numbers.

The terms

The deal terms read:

  • “Lifetime access to OnlineCourseHost.com.”
  • “All future Pro Plan updates.”
  • “If Plan name changes, deal will be mapped to the new Plan name with all accompanying updates.”
  • “You must redeem your code(s) within 60 days of purchase.”
  • “Stack unlimited codes.”
  • “Each additional code stacked unlocks 1 additional course website and 1 additional custom domain.”
  • “GDPR compliant.”
  • “Only for new OnlineCourseHost.com users who do not have existing accounts.”
  • “Previous AppSumo customers who purchased OnlineCourseHost.com can buy more codes to increase their feature limits.”
  • “Previous AppSumo customers who purchased OnlineCourseHost.com’s previous deal will retain original limits.”

The guarantee line reads “Covered by our We Got Your Back guarantee,” and the listing adds “Carefully selected by AppSumo for quality, performance, and support.” The refund line reads “Refundable up to 60 days.” If you’ve already got a paid OnlineCourseHost account, the new-users-only term means this deal isn’t for that account.

OnlineCourseHost vs Kajabi, Teachable and Thinkific

The listing names Kajabi, Teachable and Thinkific as the tools it replaces. All three are subscription course platforms; we didn’t price them for this review, so we won’t claim the deal is cheaper or better than any of them. What we can say from the pages: OnlineCourseHost charges no platform fee on sales, includes a community and AI helpers in the deal, and asks you to bring your own video host. The featured buyer quote on the listing, undated, comes from someone who says they “fully switched” after being a Thinkific customer for seven years. When you’re switching from one of these, check whether your current plan bundles video hosting, because you’d be giving that up.

Common mistakes with the OnlineCourseHost deal

Assuming video uploads are included. The plan card says “External video hosting required.” Budget for Vimeo or another host.

Reading 3 courses as a monthly figure. It’s a lifetime total per code. When you count, include every free course too.

Redeeming codes on the wrong site. Courses follow the site you redeem on. In practice, put all codes on one academy if you only want one.

Planning a big, chatty community. Only the first 100 posting members stay active, and that never resets. Don’t bother with the deal if a busy free forum is the point.

Using an old redemption link. One buyer got the previous deal’s 5 GB-per-code storage that way. Redeem through the current deal.

Skipping a test with outside links. When your lessons depend on external video, publish a test course with those links before day 60.

Who OnlineCourseHost suits

A coach with a few core courses. One or two codes give a branded academy with checkout, community and certificates.

An educator already paying for Vimeo. The video requirement costs nothing extra, and the platform fee is zero.

A small agency running a couple of client academies. Each code adds a site and a domain.

A creator with a large free community, or dozens of courses. Skip it, or look at the vendor’s Unlimited plan.

How to test it inside the refund window

  1. Build one real course with your actual Vimeo or YouTube links, publish it, and check a week later that it’s still published.
  2. Connect Stripe or PayPal and run a test purchase; remember PayPal handles one-time sales only, per the founder team.
  3. Set up your custom domain early, since one buyer needed support for it.
  4. Check your storage and course limits in the account after redeeming.
  5. Open the community and confirm the active-member counter shows 100, so you know the cap you’re working with.

What we couldn’t check

We didn’t build a course, play video, test the AI tools or measure page speed. We couldn’t confirm whether the AI student assistant on AppSumo codes is capped at 5 courses, as on the vendor’s Pro plan, or how many SCORM imports the deal includes. We couldn’t clear up the September 2026 answer that says native hosting “is available for lifetime deals” before saying you must upgrade. Ask support about all three before day 60.

FAQ: OnlineCourseHost questions

Is OnlineCourseHost a one-time payment on AppSumo?

Yes. Each code is $99 once and adds 3 courses, 1 course website and 1 custom domain. Codes stack without limit.

Does the OnlineCourseHost lifetime deal include video hosting?

No. The plan card lists “External video hosting required,” and the founder team points buyers who want video uploads to the subscription plans.

How many community members can I have?

Unlimited members, but only 100 active ones who can post or comment. The count doesn’t reset; the founder team confirmed it in October 2026.

Can I get a refund on the OnlineCourseHost deal?

Yes. The listing says “Refundable up to 60 days” and is covered by AppSumo’s We Got Your Back guarantee.

The verdict

OnlineCourseHost.com gives you a lot of course platform for $99 a code: a branded site, checkout with no platform fee, a community, certificates and AI help, tied to the vendor’s Pro plan updates and backed by AppSumo’s guarantee. The catches are written on the listing if you look: three courses per code for life, video hosted somewhere else, and a community where only 100 members can ever post. If your plans fit inside those lines, honestly, it’s a sound buy; when you test it, start with your video links, well before the refund window closes.
