Skillplate review: the price is one-time, the commission on your sales is not

Skillplate puts courses, coaching, memberships, downloads, a website, checkout and an AI agent called the Overmind in one platform. AppSumo sells six tiers from $79 once, but every tier takes a commission on your sales, from 10% down to 3%.

Bottom line: Skillplate is an all-in-one platform for selling courses, coaching, memberships, communities and digital downloads, with a website builder, Stripe checkout, CRM, email and an AI agent it calls the Overmind. On AppSumo it sells six tiers, from $79 to $549 once. The line to read first is “Commission fee.” Every tier takes a share of your sales: 10% on Tier 1, falling to 3% on Tier 6. A “0% commission fee for life” add-on costs $449 more. Skillplate’s own FAQ says it takes 1% on its monthly plans, so the two pages don’t match. The listing is “Covered by our We Got Your Back guarantee” and refundable up to 60 days.

Best for: coaches, consultants and course creators starting their first paid offer who want one place for the product, the site and the checkout.

Think twice if: you already sell a lot, need a native community inside your own site today, or want to take payments through anything other than Stripe without building an automation.

Updated 29 October 2026. This Skillplate review rests on what we read that day: the Skillplate listing on AppSumo, including all six tiers, the add-ons, the deal terms, the founder’s posts, questions and reviews, plus Skillplate’s own pricing page and its FAQ. We haven’t built a course or sold anything on it, so we describe the plans, the fees and what buyers report, not how the checkout performs.

What Skillplate does

Skillplate is a hosted platform, so there’s nothing to install. You set up your brand once and it applies to your website, product pages, checkout and members area. The listing groups the features in four blocks.

  • Selling: courses, communities, coaching programs, services, memberships and downloads “from a single storefront,” with subscriptions, one-time payments, coupons, upsells and bundles.
  • The Overmind: an AI agent you describe your business to. The listing says it “generates your entire product catalog with images, descriptions, and landing page copy,” builds the website and checkout, and suggests next steps from your orders, analytics and CRM data.
  • Storefront: an AI website builder, sales pages, funnels and landing pages, an auto-generated landing page for every product, and a custom domain.
  • Running it: products, website, customers, orders, CRM and analytics in one admin panel, plus integrations, webhooks and an API.

Every tier also lists Skillplate Academy, unlimited bundles and downloads, unlimited paid communities, unlimited courses and certificates, unlimited coaching products, unlimited email marketing, unlimited admin accounts, hosting, unlimited landing and site pages, and 12 themes. The email line carries a tooltip: it’s “subject to Skillplate’s Fair Use Policy,” and spamming “may lead to suspension or termination without refund.”

The founder, Dimitar Savov, posted on 3 August 2026 that Skillplate was “back on AppSumo” after an earlier campaign, now rebuilt around the Overmind, full white-labelling and a “Bring Your Own API Key” option for the AI. The listing shows the company was founded on 1 July 2024, is based in New York, has 1 to 10 people and is at the pre-seed stage. In the founder’s own FAQ answers on the listing, they give monthly recurring revenue as “12000” and customers as “321”; those answers aren’t dated.

The commission most people miss

Here’s the part most people miss, because it isn’t in the price. Payments run through Stripe, and on top of that Skillplate takes a commission on every sale. The AppSumo table, read on 29 October 2026:

TierPrice onceCommissionContactsActive users
Tier 1$7910%5,0001,000
Tier 2$1499%10,0005,000
Tier 3$2398%20,00010,000
Tier 4$3497%50,00025,000
Tier 5$5295%UnlimitedUnlimited
Tier 6$5493%UnlimitedUnlimited

A one-time price that also takes a cut of every sale behaves less like a lifetime deal and more like a revenue share with a cheap entry fee. That isn’t automatically bad. When you sell little, 10% of very little is very little. When you sell steadily, it adds up fast.

Turns out the escape hatch costs more than most of the tiers. The “0% commission fee for life” add-on is +$449 on any tier. In September 2026 a buyer asked whether it covers every product type, subscriptions and installments, with no revenue thresholds. The founder answered two days later: “Yes on everything it is proper lifetime forever etc.”

Skillplate’s own FAQ, read the same day, says: “Yes, Skillplate does get 1% from the checkout amount.” So the direct monthly plan, as the FAQ describes it, takes 1%, while the AppSumo tiers take 3% to 10%. The listing’s table is what applies to AppSumo buyers.

Worked examples: when the add-on pays for itself

These sums use only the commission rates and the $449 add-on price from the listing. They ignore Stripe’s own fees, which we didn’t read for this review.

A coach selling a $200 programme, five a month. That’s $1,000 a month in sales. On Tier 1, 10% is $100 a month, or $1,200 a year. The $449 add-on pays for itself after $4,490 of sales, which is about four and a half months here.

A course creator on Tier 4. At 7%, the add-on breaks even after about $6,414 of sales. If you’ve got a launch planned that will clear that in its first week, buy the add-on on day one.

A side project that sells a $29 download twice a month. That’s $58 a month and $5.80 in commission on Tier 1, about $70 a year. The add-on would take more than six years to earn back. Skip the add-on and stay on Tier 1.

A buyer weighing Tier 6 against Tier 5 plus the add-on. Tier 6 at $549 drops the rate to 3%. Tier 5 at $529 plus $449 removes it entirely for $978 in total. The gap is $429, which 3% recovers after about $14,300 of sales.

In practice, when you expect more than roughly $5,000 in lifetime sales, the commission matters more than the tier price.

One more catch. Tier 6 is marked “Buy with Plus” on the listing, which on AppSumo means it’s for Plus members. The deal terms name updates for Tiers 1 to 5 only.

One-time prices on AppSumo, read 29 October 2026; Tier 6 is 'Buy with Plus'. Add-ons on any tier: 0% commission for life +$449, Unlimited AI use (bring your own Gemini key) +$199, white label for 1 business +$299 (non-refundable). Skillplate's own pricing page lists Starter at $99 for 99 days, then $49 a month, with a 14-day money-back guarantee; its FAQ says plans start at $79 a month and take 1% of checkout.

Prices checked Oct 29, 2026 on Skillplate’s own pricing page. Lifetime deals are listings that can end or change, so check the live listing before you buy.

Beyond the commission, the tiers differ on streaming, storage and AI credits:

TierStreaming minutes a monthVideo storageGemini AI credits
Tier 115,00015 hours$5
Tier 230,00030 hours$10
Tier 345,00050 hours$15
Tier 460,00075 hours$20
Tier 575,000100 hours$25
Tier 675,000100 hours$50

One business on every tier. Each tier says “1 Businesses.” Skillplate’s own pricing page lists “Unlimited Websites,” but the AppSumo tiers don’t stack into more businesses on the pages we read. If you’ve got two brands, plan for two separate licences and ask support first.

Video adds up. A course of 40 lessons at ten minutes each is 400 minutes, under seven hours, so Tier 1’s 15 hours holds two such courses. Turns out streaming is the tighter limit: 100 students each watching two and a half hours in a month is 15,000 minutes, all of Tier 1’s allowance.

AI credits are small. The table doesn’t say whether the Gemini credit is monthly; the founder’s August post talks about “a small monthly credit allowance.” The “Unlimited AI use” add-on is +$199, and its tooltip reads “Bring Your Own Gemini Key.” Don’t forget what that means: you pay $199 to plug in your own Google account, and Google then bills you for what you use.

White label is non-refundable. “Whitelabel for 1 business” is +$299 and marked “Non-refundable.” That’s the one purchase on this page the 60-day window doesn’t cover.

The deal vs Skillplate’s own pricing

Skillplate’s own pricing page, read on 29 October 2026, shows one plan, Starter: “$99 For 99 Days! Then just $49/mo,” with “14 Days money back.” A scaling calculator on the same page says the price depends on product price, new users and video hours. The FAQ on Skillplate’s site says something different: “Plans start at $79/month.” The AppSumo page title sets $79 once against “$588/yr,” which is twelve months at $49. We’d treat the pricing page as current, but the pages disagree.

The deal terms map the tiers to plan names we couldn’t find on the pricing page: “Starter (Tier 1), Basic (Tier 2-3), Growth (Tier 4) or Pro (Tier 5).” The term after it says the deal transfers if a plan name changes.

So the comparison is simple at the low end. In practice, Tier 1 costs less than two months of the direct plan once the 99-day offer ends. The trade is the commission: 10% on AppSumo against the 1% the FAQ describes for direct plans. Honestly, the deal is easy to justify while you’re still finding buyers, and harder once your sales are steady.

What buyers report

The listing shows 4.85 stars from 99 reviews, with 91 at five tacos and one each at one and two.

New users like the look. An 18 October 2026 reviewer building their first course said they were “surprised by how professional it all looks.” A 12 October review praised the support and said the CEO “personally followed up.”

Communities mean Discord. A September 2026 buyer bought Tier 5 with the 0% add-on and white label, mainly for unlimited communities, then found that creating a community sends you to Discord. The founder replied on 20 September: “Communities use Discord right now,” adding that an internal community would come “quite soon.” Skillplate’s own FAQ also says “integrated Discord communities.”

Email marketing is thinner than the table suggests. A 29 September review gave four stars and said the one thing missing is “a dedicated email marketing interface,” calling it “limited to email notifications.”

A checkout complaint. A 9 October two-star review said buyers must create an account to pay for a digital download and enter their country, and reported checkout display issues the branding options couldn’t fix.

The roadmap isn’t a promise. On 8 October a buyer from November 2025 asked whether community, new product types and calendar features would arrive by the end of 2026. The founder’s 16 October reply began, “our roadmap is not a promise,” said the AI website builder and affiliate tracking were a week or two away, and said “Members area 2.0” won’t be finished before the end of 2026.

Payments are Stripe-first. Asked in September and October about PayPal and Bangladeshi gateways, the founder said you can point buy buttons at an outside checkout, then use a webhook, Zapier or n8n and the Skillplate API to enrol the buyer.

The terms

The deal terms read:

  • “Lifetime access to Skillplate.”
  • “All future Starter (Tier 1), Basic (Tier 2-3), Growth (Tier 4) or Pro (Tier 5) Plan updates.”
  • “If the plan name linked to your deal changes, it will automatically transfer to the new plan with all updates.”
  • “This deal is only for brand-new Skillplate users—no previous accounts, trials, or paid plans with this partner.”
  • “Activate your license within 60 days—you can upgrade while the deal is live but can only downgrade within 60 days of purchase.”

The listing reads “Refundable up to 60 days” and “Covered by our We Got Your Back guarantee.” It’s marked “Limited-time deal,” so don’t assume the tiers or add-ons stay on sale.

Skillplate vs Kajabi, Teachable and GoHighLevel

The listing names Kajabi, Teachable and GoHighLevel as the tools Skillplate replaces. Kajabi and Teachable are established course platforms; GoHighLevel is a marketing and CRM suite that agencies often resell. We didn’t price or read any of the three for this review, so we can’t compare their fees. The difference that matters here is structural: Skillplate on AppSumo is a one-time price plus a percentage of your sales, and you should compare that with whatever monthly fee and transaction fee the alternative charges at your expected revenue.

Common mistakes with the Skillplate deal

Reading $79 as the whole cost. The commission is 10% on Tier 1. Don’t skip the sums: run your own sales figures through the worked examples above.

Buying for communities inside your site. Today they’re Discord, per the founder.

Buying white label to test it. Skip the white label until you’re sure; it’s non-refundable at $299.

Having had a trial already. The deal is for “brand-new Skillplate users,” with no previous accounts or trials.

Planning around the roadmap. The founder says it isn’t a promise. Don’t bother buying for a feature that hasn’t shipped.

Expecting PayPal at checkout. Stripe is built in; anything else needs an automation.

Who Skillplate suits

A first-time course creator. Tier 1 or 2 gets the product, site and checkout live for a small one-time price, while sales are still small.

A coach selling programmes and bundles. Tiered access through bundles is built in, per the founder’s answers.

A creator with steady sales. Budget for the $449 add-on, or Tier 6 if you’re a Plus member.

A community-first business. If you’ve built your business around a community, wait until a native one ships, or be happy with Discord.

How to test it inside the refund window

  1. Create one real product with a landing page and checkout, and buy it yourself as a customer would.
  2. Buy on a phone too. When you check out, note the account and country steps one reviewer raised.
  3. Open a community and see where it takes your members.
  4. Send a real campaign to a small consenting list to see what the email tool does today.
  5. Total your expected sales for a year and decide on the 0% add-on before day 60, since that add-on is refundable and white label isn’t.

What we couldn’t check

We didn’t build products, process payments or test the Overmind. We couldn’t confirm whether the Gemini credit is monthly, whether Stripe’s own fees sit on top of the commission (we didn’t read Stripe’s pricing), or which of the FAQ’s “$79/month” and the pricing page’s “$49/mo” is current. The revenue and customer figures in the founder’s FAQ have no date. Ask support before day 60.

FAQ: Skillplate questions

Is Skillplate a one-time payment on AppSumo?

Yes, for the licence: $79 to $549 once, read on 29 October 2026. Every tier also takes a commission on your sales, from 10% to 3%, unless you add the $449 “0% commission fee for life” add-on.

Does Skillplate take a commission on direct plans too?

Its own FAQ says “Skillplate does get 1% from the checkout amount.” The AppSumo tiers list 3% to 10%.

Does Skillplate have its own community feature?

Not yet, per the founder in September 2026. Communities run on Discord today.

Can I use PayPal with Skillplate?

Not built in. If you’ve got buyers who won’t pay by card through Stripe, the founder describes sending buyers to an outside checkout and enrolling them through a webhook and the Skillplate API.

The verdict

Skillplate packs a lot into one platform, and the reviews are warm, especially about the founder’s personal support. The AppSumo guarantee and 60-day refund lower the risk. The catch is the business model: a one-time licence plus a 3% to 10% share of every sale, with $449 to switch that off. Honestly, work out a year of expected sales before choosing a tier, and buy for what ships today, not the roadmap.
