Bottom line: IdeaBuddy is a web app for planning a business. It gives you a one-page canvas, a 20-step guide, a financial plan with profit and loss and cash flow projections, and an editable business plan you can export to Word, PDF or Excel. On AppSumo it sells for $69 once, which the deal terms describe as “Lifetime access to IdeaBuddy Founder Plan.” That’s less than one year of the Founder plan on IdeaBuddy’s own site. Two limits decide whether it suits you, and most people miss both. One code covers “1 idea” and “1 collaborator,” and the founder says the AI requests are “a one-time allocation and does not replenish monthly”: 250 of them on Tier 1. The deal is refundable for 60 days, and it’s “Not covered by We Got Your Back.”
Best for: someone planning one business, or a coach who reuses a few idea slots, who wants guided structure and financial tables without building spreadsheets.
Think twice if: you want to compare many ideas side by side, import a plan you already have, or lean on the AI for every section of every plan.
We have no affiliate deal with IdeaBuddy or AppSumo; links go to the official pages. How we review.
Updated 29 October 2026. This IdeaBuddy review rests on what we read that day: the IdeaBuddy listing on AppSumo, including the plan card, the deal terms, the founder’s posts, the reviews and the questions page, and IdeaBuddy’s own pricing page. We haven’t written a plan in it, so we describe the plan, the limits and what buyers report, not how good the AI’s numbers are.

What IdeaBuddy does
IdeaBuddy turns a business idea into a structured plan. You describe the idea, pick a location and a stage, and the app sets you up with a template, either a blank one or one its AI writes for your industry. From there the work splits into five parts, each named on the AppSumo plan card:
- Idea plan. A canvas where you map the business model with sticky notes and building blocks.
- Business guide. The listing says the guide is “divided into four chapters with 20 clear steps,” from concept and market research to financial projections.
- Financial plan. Profit and loss and cash flow projections, sales, expenses and pricing assumptions, with “five different revenue models” to choose from.
- Business plan. An editable document built from the guide, which you can export, print and share.
- Idea validation. A questionnaire based on the guide that returns an overall score and points out weak spots.
The listing’s FAQ adds export to Word, PDF and Excel, share links for partners and investors, collaborators with view or edit access, and a mobile-friendly layout. AI Buddy, the assistant added in June 2024, writes text, suggests content and estimates revenues and costs. The founder’s April 2025 post introduced AI-generated templates and AI cost and revenue estimates, and a July 2026 post describes better AI suggestions and improvements to the financial and business plan modules.
The one thing most people miss: ideas and AI requests are fixed pots
Most people miss how the deal is metered. The plan card lists “1 idea” and “1 collaborator.” In October 2025 a buyer asked whether those were lifetime or monthly limits. The founder’s answer, the next day: “these are the lifetime limits you have, but please note that you can delete ideas (projects) as many times as you want and create new ones.”
So an idea slot is reusable, but you can only hold one plan at a time on a single code. That bites when you want to compare options. In August 2026 a buyer asked whether they could compare a slow-growth and a fast-growth forecast for the same idea. The founder replied: “at the moment you need to have two idea slots to create two separate financial scenarios.”
The AI allowance works the same way. The plan card doesn’t list it at all; you have to read the questions, which is where most people miss it. Asked about it several times between January and November 2025, the founder gave the same breakdown each time: “Tier 1 – 250 requests, Tier 2 – 500 requests, Tier 3 – 1000 requests,” adding that “The number of AI requests you receive is a one-time allocation and does not replenish monthly.” Turns out that’s the main difference from buying direct, too. In February 2025 the founder said the AppSumo deals “include slightly fewer AI requests” than the lifetime subscriptions on IdeaBuddy’s site, and that “everything else is like the Founder lifetime subscription.”
Top-ups exist. The founder’s 2025 answers priced them at $5 for 100, $10 for 1,000 and $15 for 5,000 AI requests, bought inside the app. IdeaBuddy’s pricing FAQ confirms that purchased credits “have no expiration date and are used before those included in your subscription.” We didn’t see current top-up prices on a page dated 2026, so don’t trust those figures blindly; check them in the app before you count on them.
Plans and pricing
The listing shows a single card, “One plan, all inclusive,” at $69 for lifetime access. It lists 1 collaborator, 1 idea, idea validation, idea plan, business guide, business plan, financial plan, templates and lifetime support, then “Stack 2 codes for 3 ideas.”
| Plan | Price |
|---|---|
| Plan 1 One business idea |
$69 once |
| Plan 2 (2 codes) Comparing ideas or scenarios |
$138 once |
One-time prices on AppSumo, read 29 October 2026; the listing shows $69 against a struck-through $1,440 and '95% off'. Two stacked codes give 3 ideas. IdeaBuddy's own price feed lists Dreamer at $15 a month or $60 a year and Founder at $20 a month or $96 a year before tax, with a 15-day money-back guarantee; AI top-ups were $5 for 100, $10 for 1,000 and $15 for 5,000 requests per the founder.
Prices checked Oct 29, 2026 on IdeaBuddy’s own pricing page. Lifetime deals are listings that can end or change, so check the live listing before you buy.
Two codes at $69 each come to $138 for three idea slots. The card says nothing about a third code. In October 2025 the founder mentioned “options to purchase a lifetime deal with 3 and 10 idea slots,” and an April 2025 answer said AppSumo had set a limit of three codes. What three codes buy today isn’t on the card we read, so ask before stacking past two.
Picking a plan: three worked examples
These sums use only the plan card and the founder’s AI figures. Honestly, the idea count matters less than the AI count for most buyers, because slots can be reused and requests can’t.
One founder, one business. Plan 1 covers it: one idea, 250 AI requests. A June 2026 reviewer said generating the AI template “costs 20 AI requests.” If you’ve used 20 on the template, you have 230 left for writing help and cost estimates across the guide, the financial plan and the business plan. That’s enough for one careful plan, not for regenerating every section several times. When you run low, the founder’s 2025 price of $10 for 1,000 requests would refill it cheaply.
Comparing two versions of the same idea. You want a cautious forecast and an optimistic one. Per the founder, that takes two idea slots, so one code won’t do it. Two codes, $138, give three slots and 500 AI requests: room for both scenarios plus a third idea or a clean copy. In practice, that third slot is where you’d test a pivot without touching either forecast.
A coach running workshops. In September 2024 a business coach described stacking codes for 10 ideas, using three for student sample plans, exporting them to Word, then deleting them to free the slots. The founder confirmed all three steps with “Yes.” In practice, a two-code stack with three slots works for one sample plan per small group, as long as you export and delete between cohorts.
The deal vs IdeaBuddy’s own plans
IdeaBuddy’s pricing page lists a free 15-day trial, Dreamer, Founder and a quote-only White Label plan, all “backed by a 15-day money-back guarantee.” On 29 October 2026 the page itself was hard to read: in the annual view the cards showed “$15” and “$20” next to “Per month, billed annually.” The price feed the page loads from its payment provider listed different figures:
| IdeaBuddy’s own plan | Monthly | Yearly | AI requests |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free trial | Free for 15 days | n/a | 10 |
| Dreamer | $15 a month | $60 a year | 25 a month or 125 a year |
| Founder | $20 a month | $96 a year | 50 a month or 250 a year |
| White Label | Quote | Quote | n/a |
The feed’s prices are before tax, which it added for our country. Because the page and the feed disagree, treat the yearly figures as what the payment step would charge, and confirm them on the page yourself.
Line the deal up against Founder, the plan the terms name. $69 once is less than $96 for one year, and about three and a half months of the $20 monthly plan. The trade, when you look closely, is the AI allowance. A yearly Founder subscriber gets 250 AI requests each year, refilled “at the end of each billing cycle,” per IdeaBuddy’s FAQ. An AppSumo Tier 1 buyer gets 250 once. If you’ve got one plan to write, the deal wins easily. If you’ll lean on the AI for years, budget for top-ups, and don’t forget they’re paid on top of the $69.
The public pricing page showed no lifetime plan when we read it, even though the founder refers to lifetime subscriptions on IdeaBuddy’s site. We couldn’t compare the deal with those.
What buyers report
The listing shows 4.76 stars from 112 reviews, and 1,676 people have bought it.
The AI template impresses people. A June 2026 reviewer said the AI-generated template “crafted an incredibly accurate, personalized business plan from ONE sentence,” while stressing that a clear description of the idea, offer and audience is essential. The founder replied two days later that AI validation is on the roadmap.
Structure helps first-time founders. A July 2026 reviewer used it to shape a consulting firm and said “Tier 1 will get the job done,” recommending Tier 2 or 3 only “if you have multiple Business Ideas.” An October 2026 reviewer praised the step tracking: “You exactly know which steps you’ve completed.”
The AI’s numbers need checking. A September 2026 reviewer said the app’s prices and costs were sometimes too low and sometimes too high. Another, the same month, said they “had to update some information and tweak text that was too general.” The founder answered both in early October.
Some features are missing. A June 2026 buyer asked for an import function. The founder replied about a month later: “Currently we don’t have the option to import files/plans.” In September 2024 the founder said the whiteboard “is not included in the LTD since it is a third-party integration.”
The terms
The deal terms read:
- “Lifetime access to IdeaBuddy Founder Plan.”
- “You must redeem your code within 60 days of purchase.”
- “All future plan updates.”
- “This deal is stackable.”
The guarantee line reads “Not covered by We Got Your Back. Listed by the partner, not reviewed by AppSumo.” The plan card says “Refundable up to 60 days,” and in June 2026 the founder repeated that “we have a 60-day refund policy for all AppSumo customers.” The listing’s struck-through $1,440 and “95% off” are the listing’s own figures; the vendor’s yearly Founder price we read was $96. Don’t forget that AppSumo deals can end, so don’t assume this one will be there later.
IdeaBuddy vs Bizplanr, Upmetrics and LivePlan
The listing names Bizplanr, Upmetrics and LivePlan as the tools it replaces, and says IdeaBuddy “Does the same job for a one-time $69 instead of a subscription.” We didn’t price or read those three for this review, so we can’t compare features or costs. What we can say from IdeaBuddy’s own pages: it combines the canvas, guide, financials and plan document in one app, and it has no import, so moving an existing plan in from another tool means retyping it. If you’ve already paid for one of those tools, honestly, check what you’d lose before switching.
Common mistakes with the IdeaBuddy deal
Assuming the AI refills. On the deal it doesn’t. 250 requests on Tier 1, once.
Buying one code for two scenarios. A second forecast for the same idea needs a second slot.
Trusting the AI’s cost estimates as given. Buyers report figures that run high or low. Don’t use them in a pitch until you’ve checked them against real quotes.
Planning to import an old plan. There’s no import yet. If you’ve already written one elsewhere, budget an afternoon to retype it.
Expecting the whiteboard. The founder says it isn’t in the lifetime deal.
Stacking past two codes without asking. The card only describes two codes. Skip the guesswork and ask the founder on the listing first.
Who IdeaBuddy suits
A first-time founder with one idea. Plan 1 gives the full Founder feature set and enough AI for one considered plan.
Someone weighing two directions. Two codes, three slots, both scenarios side by side.
A coach or teacher. Reusable slots and Word export suit sample plans, if you delete between groups.
Skip the deal if you need many live plans at once, an agency or unlimited plan (the founder says those aren’t part of the AppSumo offer), or a white-label setup.
How to test it inside the refund window
- Start from the guide. One reviewer recommends it as the best starting point; work through all four chapters for your real idea.
- Generate one AI template and note how many of your 250 requests it uses. When you see the count drop, you’ll know your real budget.
- Build the financial plan and check the AI’s costs and prices against quotes you already have.
- Export the business plan to Word, PDF and Excel and check the files are usable outside the app.
- Invite your one collaborator and check view and edit access work as you need, well before day 60.
What we couldn’t check
We didn’t write a plan, so we can’t judge the AI’s accuracy or the financial engine. IdeaBuddy’s pricing page showed figures that disagreed with its own price feed, and it showed no lifetime plan; we couldn’t confirm the founder’s top-up prices on a 2026 page. We couldn’t confirm what three stacked codes buy today, or how many collaborators come with a two-code stack. The listing names no company country, founding year or team size beyond founder Nemanja Zunic.
FAQ: IdeaBuddy questions
Is IdeaBuddy a one-time payment on AppSumo?
Yes. On 29 October 2026 it was $69 once for lifetime access to the Founder plan, refundable for 60 days.
How many AI requests does the IdeaBuddy deal include?
The plan card doesn’t say. The founder’s answers on the listing give 250 for Tier 1, 500 for Tier 2 and 1,000 for Tier 3, as a one-time allowance that doesn’t refill. Top-ups are bought in the app.
Can I make more than one business plan with one code?
One at a time. A code covers one idea slot, and you can delete an idea and start another. Two codes give three slots.
Is the AppSumo deal cheaper than IdeaBuddy’s own Founder plan?
On the pages we read, yes: $69 once against $20 a month or $96 a year. The subscriptions refill their AI requests each billing cycle, though, and the deal’s don’t.
The verdict
IdeaBuddy is a well-reviewed, guided planner that puts the canvas, the forecast and the plan document in one place, and this deal costs less than a year of the plan it copies. The catch is that both the idea slots and the AI requests are fixed, so it’s best for someone with one or two ideas who’ll check the AI’s numbers and won’t burn through 250 requests. If that’s you, it’s a sensible buy; test the AI and the exports before day 60.
